Crimson Lights
Phyllis meets Daniel at the coffeehouse. Phyllis tells him that she understands his stance on not working for Abbott Communications.
Daniel is surprised to hear this.
Phyllis says she’s come to her own understanding about things, and what she really wants is to move on from Abbott Communications. She assures Daniel that she’s seen the light and is ready to move on.
Daniel is surprised his mother is over her firing that quickly.
Phyllis promises that Billy will go down for treating her this way. She informs him that Billy replaced her with Sally.
Daniel knows Sally is talented.
Phyllis doesn’t see how Sally has any qualifications for media. She gives her a week in the business before she crashes and burns.
Daniel is nervous about whatever Phyllis has planned next.
Phyllis assures her son that her goals are positive. She suggests they find their new direction together.
Daniel thinks they should just agree to keep each other posted on their progress.
Phyllis says they can build an empire on their own.
Daniel calls out Phyllis for not hearing him. He’s got too many demons to wrestle right now.
Phyllis doesn’t agree with the way he’s going about it.
Daniel knows she means well, but feels this is more for her. He can’t move on until he deals with coming to terms with the void left by Heather’s murder. Daniel tells Phyllis to bring ideas to him, and he’ll see if they spark anything.
Phyllis loves a challenge.
Society
Billy tells Sally about his interesting meeting with Victor.
Sally wants to know what type of threats he made.
Billy says he wants to bury him in negative press with Newman Media.
They are sure that Adam is right there with his father, leading the charge.

Sally is shocked at how soon Victor started with his threats. She suggests they ignore Victor, Adam, and Phyllis.
Billy tells her about Victor’s deal to avoid the media war.
Sally knew that the secret deal had something to do with Chancellor.
Billy says that Dumas reached out and dangled Chancellor but missed several meeting attempts.
Sally calls Victor’s deal “blackmail.” She hopes Billy plans to move on from this.
Billy insists his eyes are wide open.
Sally wants him to forget Dumas and focus solely on Abbott Communications.
Billy says Victor slipped up and showed that he is concerned about Dumas. He plans to use that concern to his benefit.
Sally doesn’t like the sound of this.
Billy says there are no risks here.
Sally doesn’t like the idea of Billy pitting the two titans against each other.
Billy wants to fan the flames between the two and watch the battle. His money is on Dumas.
Sally wants to know if this means he’s neglecting the idea of taking Chancellor back to prove a point.
Billy says Chancellor is only a tool to take Victor down.
Sally worries that Billy will make Victor more of an enemy than he already is.
Billy doesn’t see how that’s possible. He promises to be careful with his tactics.
Sally says they are on this ride together.
Phyllis overhears as Billy insists it’s time Victor gets what he deserves.
Chancellor Park
Claire tells Kyle about Nikki’s suggestion of trying to win Victor over, together.
Kyle can’t believe she thinks that will work.
Claire wants him to make an effort.
Kyle loves her but doesn’t think there is anything he can do to sway Victor.
Claire wants Victor to be in a relaxed situation with them as a couple.
Kyle knows Victor will never stop hating him.
Claire says they must find an answer to this problem.
Kyle says not all things can be fixed.
Claire hopes that leading with understanding and kindness will work.
Kyle doesn’t believe they can make any inroads to help the situation. He wonders why Victor’s opinion is so important to her.
Claire admits to being secretly in awe of Victor during her years with Jordan. He’s given her a sense of belonging that she’s never had.
Kyle doesn’t want her to ignore her feelings, but reminds her that his hate runs as deeply as his love. He knows this is important to her and is willing to try.
Kyle is confused by the suggestion.
Claire says no one knows Victor as well as Nikki does.
Kyle doesn’t like that it feels like there are three people in their relationship.
Claire assures him it is only temporary. She thinks she has a plan that will work.
Mariah sits deep in thought, and Tessa joins her.
Tessa wants to know when Mariah is going to let her in and tell her what is wrong.
Mariah assures her that nothing is wrong.
Tessa knows she is avoiding her and wants to know why.
Mariah claims she is tired and blames it on work.
Tessa can’t believe she’s too tired to have dinner with her and their daughter. She wonders if Mariah still blames her for Ian.

Mariah says it isn’t that, but it is about Ian.
Mariah says that seeing Ian brought everything back to her when she realized she was the reason he returned.
Tessa reminds her that she is a victim, too.
Mariah is sick of hearing that. She questions how she could not have seen Ian for what he was years ago. She says she is needy and broken.
Tessa asserts that Mariah is kind and sincere. She cries and apologizes again for not seeing Ian for who he was. She suggests they try therapy so Mariah can forgive her.
Mariah replies that she isn’t the one who needs forgiveness.
Tessa wants to know what Mariah needs forgiveness for and insists there is nothing she can’t tell her.
Tessa promises they can get through anything together.
Mariah says she is sorry and runs away without saying another word.
A few minutes later, Daniel runs into a distraught Tessa in the park.
Tessa can’t say anything and falls into Daniel’s arms.
