Coronation Street fans think they know who will bring Carl Webster down after a telling scene on Monday’s episode.
Soap watchers will recall that Carl made his cobbles debut last month as the younger brother of Kevin and Debbie Webster.
However, secrets were soon teased with the newcomer, especially over why he left Germany for the cobbles.
In recent heartbreaking scenes, Debbie confided in brother Carl that she has vascular dementia. However, Debbie hasn’t told anyone else about her diagnosis and has even dumped oblivious and heartbroken partner Ronnie Bailey to protect him from having to become her carer.
On Monday’s episode, Ronnie caught up with old flame Fiona at Debbie’s hotel, where he introduced the two leaving his ex very jealous.
Later, Debbie made her feelings clear as Ronnie assured Debbie that Fiona is nothing more than a friend. Playing Ronnie at his own game, Debbie answered the phone to a man called Ross in front of him as she let Ronnie think she’s got a new boyfriend.
Ronnie was left heartbroken as he grilled Carl for answers, who told Ronnie that Debbie doesn’t want anything more to do with him and had moved on.
As things escalated between the two with Ronnie insisting he wants to hear the truth from Debbie himself, Carl barred Ronnie from the hotel as they squared up to each other.
This forced hotel worker Ryan Connor to separate the two. Soap watchers have been left suspicious over Carl, worrying he’s after Debbie’s money and will scam her amid her heartbreaking vascular dementia diagnosis.
Taking to Twitter, now X, soap watchers are hoping Ryan could bring Carl down after witnessing his behaviour towards Ronnie.
One person said: “At least Ryan can see what an absolute clown Carl is. He’s going to be very beneficial during Debbie’s storyline, far more than her little brother. #Corrie” while a different account put: “Love we’re getting Ryan + Debbie’s friendship back – Ryan better start seeing Carl doesn’t have the best intentions for Debbie now he’s trying to keep Ronnie away from her. #Corrie.”
Elsewhere, another said: “The last thing Carl wants is Debbie & Ronnie getting back together or Debbie getting close to anyone because imo Carl won’t want anyone getting in the way of him getting his hands on Debbie’s money. #Corrie” while a different viewer added: “Don’t trust Carl with a barge pole #Corrie.”
Coronation Street continues on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV and ITV X.
