Coronation Street fans believe they’ve figured out who will be the downfall of Carl Webster, following a revealing scene in Monday’s episode.
Viewers will remember that Carl first appeared on the cobbles last month as the younger sibling of Kevin and Debbie Webster.
However, it wasn’t long before mysteries began to surround the newcomer, particularly regarding his reasons for leaving Germany for Weatherfield.
In recent poignant scenes, Debbie revealed to her brother Carl that she has been diagnosed with vascular dementia. Yet, Debbie has kept this information from everyone else, even ending her relationship with an unaware and heartbroken Ronnie Bailey to spare him the burden of becoming her carer.
During Monday’s episode, Ronnie bumped into his former flame Fiona at Debbie’s hotel, introducing her to Debbie and sparking jealousy, reports Leicestershire Live.
Later, Debbie didn’t hide her feelings when Ronnie reassured her that Fiona was just a friend. Turning the tables on Ronnie, Debbie took a call from a man named Ross in front of him, leading Ronnie to believe she has a new beau.
Ronnie was left devastated as he sought answers from Carl, who informed him that Debbie wanted nothing more to do with him and had moved on.
Tensions rose between the two men, with Ronnie insisting on hearing the truth directly from Debbie, leading to Carl barring Ronnie from the hotel as they faced off against each other.
Hotel worker Ryan Connor found himself breaking up a confrontation, causing a stir among soap fans who’ve grown wary of Carl, fearing he might be plotting to con Debbie out of her money amidst her devastating diagnosis of vascular dementia.
Soap fans took to Twitter, now X, hoping that Ryan might be the one to take Carl down after witnessing his behaviour towards Ronnie.
One viewer tweeted: “At least Ryan can see what an absolute clown Carl is. He’s going to be very beneficial during Debbie’s storyline, far more than her little brother. #Corrie”, and another remarked: “Love we’re getting Ryan + Debbie’s friendship back – Ryan better start seeing Carl doesn’t have the best intentions for Debbie now he’s trying to keep Ronnie away from her. #Corrie.”
Meanwhile, one fan speculated: “The last thing Carl wants is Debbie and Ronnie getting back together or Debbie getting close to anyone because imo Carl won’t want anyone getting in the way of him getting his hands on Debbie’s money. #Corrie”, while another simply stated: “Don’t trust Carl with a barge pole #Corrie.”
Coronation Street continues on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV and ITV X.
