Jocelyn Hudon, fresh off her emotional rollercoaster in Season 13, spoke to us about Novak’s growth, the deep bond she shares with Violet, and what’s in store for her character. As fans of the show know, Novak has become an integral part of Firehouse 51, and Hudon is just as thrilled about Novak’s journey as we are.

Novak and Violet: The Dynamic Duo

Novak’s decision to stay at Firehouse 51 initially caused some tension, but as time passed, she found a home, not just in the firehouse, but with Violet as her paramedic partner. Their strong bond has made them one of the most trusted duos on the job.

“Violet has a lot of responsibility,” Hudon explains. “She’s very serious, driven, and professional, whereas Novak lightens things up. She’s there for Violet, offering support and bringing a bit of fun to the workplace. They complement each other in the best way.”

The two have become inseparable, both on and off the job. The chemistry between them is undeniable, and Hudon loves exploring these moments, especially when the two share downtime at Molly’s. “It’s always fun to shoot those scenes. It’s a different dynamic, and we love having those relaxed moments,” Hudon adds.

Novak’s Evolving Storyline and Personal Growth

Season 13 saw Novak confront several challenges, particularly when it came to balancing her career with her personal life. The crossovers with Chicago Med offered some exciting moments, and Novak’s interactions with other first responders gave viewers a deeper look at her character.

For Hudon, playing Novak has been a fulfilling experience. “Every episode I get, I’m excited. I love how the writers are shaping Novak’s story,” she says. “She’s in a good place right now, but I’m always open to new developments. Novak has a lot to offer, and I trust where the writers are taking her.”

As the season progresses, Novak’s relationship with Violet and her role in Firehouse 51 continue to evolve. Hudon teases, “There are some great moments ahead. Novak’s character will be pushed in new ways, and I can’t wait for everyone to see it.”

Potential Crossovers and New Relationships

While Novak has settled into her role at Firehouse 51, fans can’t help but wonder if there are other opportunities for her character. With the success of Chicago Fire’s crossovers with Chicago Med, it’s no surprise that viewers are hoping for a Novak crossover with Chicago P.D.

“I think it would be so much fun to have Novak cross over with Chicago P.D.,” Hudon shares. “Maybe there’s a robbery, and Novak has to step in. The action and physicality could lead to an exciting combination of the Firehouse 51 team and P.D. It would definitely be a blast.”

There’s also the potential for Novak to continue exploring her own love life, especially following some complex moments with characters like Damon and Frost. “There’s definitely some tension with Frost,” Hudon admits. “I think Novak and Frost get along really well, but I’m curious to see where that could go. As for Damon, it’s a bit complicated, but Novak’s not one to shy away from speaking her truth.”

What’s Next for Novak?

Looking ahead, Hudon has big hopes for Novak’s future. “I’d love to see Novak interact more with Kidd and Severide. We haven’t had much one-on-one time, and I think that could lead to some interesting dynamics.”

As for Novak’s character arc, Hudon is optimistic about what the writers have in store. “There’s so much potential for Novak. She’s grown a lot, and I’m excited to see how she continues to evolve. Her journey is far from over.”

The Fans and the Future of Chicago Fire

For Hudon, the support from fans has been overwhelming. “It’s always amazing to see how invested the fans are. They care so much about these characters, and that makes everything we do on set so rewarding. I’m really grateful for the love Novak has received.”
