Coronation Street star lets slip ‘twists and turns’ in ‘dramatic’ baby plot

Coronation Street’s Shona Platt actress Julia Goulding has told The Mirror that her new baby storyline ‘won’t be without its drama’ with ‘twists and turns’ ahead on the ITV soap

There’s “drama” ahead for Coronation Street’s Shona and David Platt amid their new baby storyline.

Actress Julia Goulding, who plays Shona, hinted it wasn’t going to be happy families for very long amid Shona’s pregnancy being revealed onscreen. David had found a pregnancy test and assumed it belonged to their neighbour Betsy Swain.

But when suspicion fell on his young daughter Lily Platt, Shona quickly told her husband that it was her test, confirming her pregnancy. But with scenes this week seeing the Platts learn all about the couple’s baby joy, Julia exclusively told The Mirror that things could take a “dramatic” turn.

Teasing “twists and turns” on the way, she teased there could be some unexpected things on the way for the family, and concerning the couple’s child.

Asked if there was exciting scenes ahead and some happy news, Julia told us: “Yeah, not that it’s without its drama.” Remaining coy, she then added: “There’s more drama on the way, definitely.”

Julia then teased this further, with it hinted it was linked to the new child on the way. She said: “What can I tease? I don’t know, apart from that there is gonna be lots of twists and turns for them regarding the future of their family… child…”

Of course we brought up the ongoing bin-gate drama between the Platts and the Connor-Swain household, as they’ve been dubbed by fans. With Lisa Swain bickering with new neighbour David about using each other’s bins, it’s certainly brought some comedy back to the soap.
