Coronation Street star Sam Aston is best known for playing Chesney Brown on the ITV soap.
Actor Sam Aston has revealed his enthusiasm as he prepares for An Audience with Coronation Street, following recent hints from one star about a possible return.
The ITV performer, who has portrayed Chesney Brown on the programme since 2003, forms part of the UK tour, offering fans an intimate encounter with some Corrie legends.
Before the London performance, commencing on Sunday (September 14), the 32-year-old discussed his feelings regarding the much-awaited occasion.
In footage exclusively provided by ITV studios prior to tonight’s live tour, he remarked: “This is my West End debut! I’m absolutely buzzing to be fair. There’s a good buzz around the building and I think, yeah, we’re all excited!”
The actor also mentioned his anticipation of enjoying himself on stage alongside his fellow cast members, reports the Daily Star.
Another segment featured him saying: “We’ll have to see how it goes! I don’t think I’ll be too good at the quiz. But hopefully, there will be some good stories, some good laughs, and everybody enjoys themselves.”
On Sunday, Sam will be accompanied by his Coronation Street colleagues Jane Danson, who portrays Leanne Battersby, and Patti Clare who plays Mary Taylor in the programme.
An Audience with Coronation Street is travelling across the UK this September and features This Morning’s resident soap specialist, Sharon Marshall, as host.
Throughout each show, audiences will have the opportunity to witness five stars performing live, plus the bonus appearance of a cobbles icon.
The event’s description reads: “In the first half, you’ll enjoy an intimate and lively chat with the cast as they share backstage gossip, funniest on-set moments, and personal stories about life in Weatherfield.
“Ever wondered what really goes on between takes? Or which co-stars are best mates off-screen? This is your chance to find out!”
Among the cast members fans can expect to see on the tour are Andrew Whyment, Jack P Shepherd, Jimmi Harkishin and Jodie Prenger.
Rob Mallard, Samia Longchambon and Simon Gregson are also confirmed to be part of the tour.
Unfortunately, actress Vicky Myers, who plays Lisa Swain, will no longer be able to attend due to scheduling conflicts.
In a message, she stated: “I’m so, so, sorry to miss the Glasgow show for An Audience with Coronation Street on 24th September. Due to unavoidable last-minute schedule changes, I won’t be able to be there.
“Every possible scheduling option was explored, however it was just not possible I’m afraid. This was completely out of my control.
“In my place I am delighted that the legend and utterly gorgeous ‘Sunshine Sue Devaney’ will be joining the line-up instead – she is going to be amazing – she IS amazing!”
