The mother and son duo took on a huge charity trek as they climbed Mount Kilimanjaro for Prevent Breast Cancer.

She posted a snap of them both mid-trek to her Instagram page.

They were all smiles in their padded coats, woolly hats and mittens as they posed proudly equipped with a walking stick on the mountainside.

The breathtaking backdrop showed just how far they’d come.

Sally wrote in the caption: “Thank you @samdynevor for getting me through this week. Couldn’t have done this without my boy.”

Fans flooded the comments to cheer them on for the inspiring challenge.

One wrote: “What a fantastic team you two are.”

Another added: “Many congrats to you both – amazing achievement.”

A third penned: “Well done, truly inspirational.”

While both of her daughters with husband Tim have followed her footsteps in telly, her only son Samuel, 28, tends to keep a low profile, working instead in the corporate communications sector.

Sally revealed her own cancer news in 2009 – at the same time as her character’s medical turmoil played out on-screen.

This November will be 16 years since the 62-year-old was diagnosed with breast cancer, the same year her character was also diagnosed.

Following her diagnosis, Sally had a lumpectomy and six months of chemotherapy treatment and has since gone on to make a full recovery.

Sam said: “It’s a cause that’s particularly close to our hearts. In November, it will be sixteen years since my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. Like so many other families, we never thought it could happen to us. But it did.

Soaps are renowned for their sweet and scandalous romances – but it’s not just in scripted storylines where love is blossoming. A number of our favourite small-screen actors have fallen for co-stars and soapland rivals when the cameras have stopped rolling.

“I still remember hearing the news – it felt like life had changed in an instant, and that’s the reality for so many families.

“Every year, over 55,900 individuals are diagnosed with breast cancer – that’s 153 people a day.

“Fortunately, my mum was diagnosed early, and we’ve since learned just how crucial early detection and prevention are.

“Today, my mum is not just a survivor – she’s also a passionate advocate and Patron for Prevent Breast Cancer, raising awareness and supporting the vital research needed to prevent others from facing what she went through.”

Meanwhile, her daughter Phoebe Dynevor soared to fame after playing the lead in the popular Netflix period drama Bridgerton.

Phoebe secured her most prominent role to date as Daphne Bridgerton, the eldest daughter in a powerful and wealthy family, who wants to meet a man and get married.

The star’s career began back in 2009 as Siobhan Mailey on BBC’s Waterloo Road.

She later went on to star in the likes of Monroe, Prisoners’ Wives, The Village, The Musketeers and Snatch.

Sally’s other daughter Hattie Dynevor is also an actress and joined the cast of Waterloo Road back in 2023.
