Heartbreak hits Port Charles.

Since Leslie Charleson’s death earlier this year, viewers have been waiting for GH to pay tribute to its longest running cast member. Now, the time has come on the September 17, 2025 episode of General Hospital after Jason discovered his mother Monica has passed away.

Saying Goodbye to Monica

It was any ordinary at The Quartermaines’, with Wiley (Viron Weaver) getting ready for his first day of school, Chase (Josh Swickard) working on a case, and Cody (Josh Kelly) up to his usual innocent antics. But just as Wiley was about to head to school, they were all interrupted by a knock on the door and reluctantly welcomed in Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) with Scout (Cosette Abinante).

Willow’s excuse to see her son on his first day of school was telling everyone that Scout wanted to continue her yearly tradition of receiving first day of school well wishes from Monica. While Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) brought the kids upstairs to see her, Michael (Rory Gibson) and Tracy (Jane Elliot) confronted Willow about her latest scheme. She even admitted that Drew (Cameron Mathison) had told her he believes Michael shot him, and threatened what that accusation could do to his custody of the kids.

It wasn’t until a bit later when Tracy called Jason (Steve Burton) over to inform him she’d seen Michael flee the crime scene at Drew’s house, and he assured her he’s handling the situation. Then when Tracy suggested Jason be the one to tell Monica that Drew had been shot, Jason didn’t hesitate and went straight upstairs to see his mom.

When Jason came back downstairs, he tearfully told Tracy that Monica was gone.
