Emmerdale’s Mackenzie has finally been rescued but fans can’t help but think a heartbreaking twist is ahead

Emmerdale fans have predicted a devastating exit for Mackenzie Boyd.

It’s fair to say Mackenzie (Lawrence Robb) has had a traumatic and dramatic past few weeks after finding out John Sugden (Oliver Farmworth) was the one who killed Nate Robinson (Jurrell Carter) last year and dumped his body into a lake.

Resorting to desperate measures to keep his secret, John attacked Mackenzie in the woods before holding a seriously injured Mack captive in an underground bunker.

In the episodes that followed, John’s husband Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) found out that John had been drugging him and a showdown later took place.

Things then took a dramatic turn when John confessed everything to Aaron, before throwing himself and Aaron over the cliff edge. Rushed to the hospital, Aaron was put in an induced coma while John managed to make a somewhat quick recovery.

However, Aaron woke up and informed mum Chas (Lucy Pargeter) about John’s sick crimes and that he had Mackenzie. And during Thursday’s (September 18) episode, the race was on to find Mack.

Despite the police and Mack’s wife Charity (Emma Atkins) finding the bunker, Mack was nowhere to be seen. Later on though, John was seen carrying an extremely weak Mackenzie to the outside of a hospital.

He got the attention of the medical staff and informed them that Mack had overdosed before fleeing the scene. Charity then arrived at hospital and sat by Mack’s bedside praying that he would wake up and recover.

Fans have predicted a sad exit

And in emotional scenes, Mack said her name before opening his eyes, asking her if he was dreaming. Overcome with emotion, Charity told him “I’m here,” before kissing his forehead. However, although Mack has been found, fans can’t help but think a sad exit is on the cards for the beloved character.

On an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, one person wrote: “I think Mack will survive but want to take a break from the village for a while when he gets out of hospital.” Another fan chimed in: “Yeah that’s what usually happens when an actor has a big storyline.” A third then wrote: “I can see that happening as well.”

Nonetheless, others reckon the character could still be killed off. They penned: “He could still die? From his injuries or something.” Someone else declared: “Yep more to come I think.”
