Emmerdale: Shocking scenes as Mackenzie is kidnapped
It has been a busy few weeks in Emmerdale, as villain John Sugden’s rein of terror approaches its end.

Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) recently became John’s (Oliver Farnworth) latest target after he uncovered the truth behind Nate Robinson’s (Jurell Carter) murder.

ITV soap fans will know that John killed Nate after the barn fire last year, before framing Owen Michaels (Simon Haines) for the crime.

Mack was thought to have been dead after he was shot through the chest, before John ominously held a large rock over him.
However, it was soon revealed that John had been keeping Mack captive in an underground bunker on the grounds of his childhood home, where he was staying with his husband, Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller).

The situation took an even darker turn when John confessed his crimes to Aaron, before throwing them both over the edge of a cliff.
At the hospital, John pinned the accident on his brother, Robert (Ryan Hawley), who desperately tried to clear his name, despite the evidence stacking up against him.
As Aaron lay in a coma, a panicked John tried to unplug his husband’s life support earlier this week, before hastily making his exit from the hospital.

While John got a lift from an unsuspecting Cain (Jeff Hordley), Aaron finally woke up and confirmed that John had taken Mack hostage.
The search for Mack began during Thursday’s (September 18) hour-long episode, with Aaron later unveiling John’s recent string of crimes to his family.

When the police eventually found the bunker, they were shocked to find it empty, with only remnants of Mack remaining.
It was then revealed that John had secretly escorted Mack to the hospital, where he claimed that he found him of the side of the road.
Mack’s wife Charity (Emma Atkins) and sister Moira (Natalie J Robb) were beside themselves with worry as doctors confirmed that Mack was suffering from dehydration and malnourishment, as well as a broken shoulder and a shattered ankle.

At the end of the episode, Charity spent a quiet moment alone with her sleeping husband after being separated for weeks.
“You know what I want more than anything right now? Just a moment with you, one last moment. It’s not a lot to ask, is it?” she said, shortly before Mack opened his eyes and breathed her name.

Soap fans were delighted to see Mack alive after weeks of speculation. However, many also shared their concerns for the character on social media.
“I reckon Mack is not out of the woods yet,” one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Another added: “Exactly what I think, we’ll get this touching moment with Charity and then we’ll lose Mack.”

A third said: “Surely they’re not killing off Mack at this late stage – he’s lasted so long!!” with another fan similarly sharing: “They better not kill Mack after he’s been found. I’ll be devastated.”
