Emmerdale has released a new pair of spoiler clips, previewing the aftermath of the show’s recent huge episodes. As John Sugden continues to lurk around the village, he still poses a threat to those around him. Elsewhere, Charity Dingle worries about the big secret that she’s keeping…

A first look at Monday’s episode (22 September) previews an emotional heart-to-heart between Robert and Victoria Sugden now that the truth about John is out in the open.

Sitting together outside Keepers Cottage, the siblings discuss Robert’s chances of reuniting with his ex-husband Aaron Dingle now that he doesn’t have to worry about John being his love rival.

Conversation then turns to whether John ever really cared about Victoria, who acknowledges how she leaned on her long-lost brother because she didn’t have any other family to rely on.

Secretly eavesdropping from inside, John is visibly hurt by Robert and Victoria’s tough talking. He’s clutching a syringe and plotting to take a terrible revenge against Robert, but soon has a change of heart. Is Robert finally out of the danger zone?

Meanwhile, in Wednesday’s episode (24 September), Charity looks forward to giving her husband Mackenzie Boyd a warm welcome home following his stay in hospital.

The couple should be looking forward to an exciting future together, but Charity is still worried about the big secret that she’s keeping.

As Ross Barton pays a visit to the house, Charity is plagued by guilt over how he could be the father of the baby she’s carrying for her granddaughter Sarah. How would Mack react if he found out? It can’t be worse than John’s bunker, right?

Emma Atkins, who plays Charity, recently explained: “It’s absolutely brilliant to play, knowing that Charity is in such a mess now. This has created a huge element of conflict for her. As an actor, you can’t hope for a better storyline.

“I know the audience will just be like: ‘Oh my God, what will she do? Who can she tell?’ Because I think they all are going to immediately jump to the idea of: ‘Hang on then, it’s not Sarah and Jacob’s baby!’

“I think it is just a jaw dropping moment for those that have followed the storyline. It just ups the stakes with everything. Sarah’s just got this desperate need to be a mum.

“Charity’s so desperate to please Sarah in that, and she feels her vocation is being this vessel to carry this child. There’s so much at stake for them. The audience finding this out, is just an amazing moment. It’s a good soap moment – a gift.”
