Betsy Swain found herself caught up in several dramatic storylines
Coronation Street’s Sydney Martin has been told to “take a bow” by fans as heartbreaking scenes are set to air on the soap. The actress made her debut as Betsy Swain last year and soon became a fan-favourite.

Betsy has been at the heart of the drama on the cobbles in iconic scenes which saw her mum, D.S Lisa Swain proposed to Carla Connor earlier this month. They recently purchased a house on Coronation Street, making history as the first same sex-couple to do so.

The 18-year-old has had a whirlwind time in Weatherfield, recently admitting she slept with Dylan while exploring her bond with newcomer troublemaker Brody. However amid her chaotic relationship troubles, her home life has been much more turbulent. Betsy’s mum Becky Swain, who supposedly died four years ago, made a dramatic return.

After Betsy’s dramatic 18th birthday, who witnessed a horrific hit and run, Lisa and new fiancée Carla Connor were looking forward to a quiet night in. But when Carla nipped out to investigate an alarm going off at the factory, Lisa was stunned to be confronted by the ghost from her past.
Becky has arrived on the cobbles just in time to ruffle feathers between Lisa and her new fiancée. It appears that Becky is here to stay, and viewers are wondering if she will try to break up the happy couple.
However, in emotional scenes set to air tonight. Betsy will come to terms with the return of her mum, who she has been grieving for the last four years.
A video posted to social media is taken from Wednesday’s episode and sees Betsy open up to Ryan about how she is feeling. The powerful scenes has the actress in floods of tears, as many soap fans rushed to send their praise for her performance.
Sydney re-shared the video on her Instagram story, writing: “Worked my butt off for tonight’s ep if you get the chance to watch. Alex Browning our director smashed it!”

Coronation Street fans also rushed to the comments to send their support. One said: “Truly Amazing performance.” A second wrote: “You absolutely smashed it Sydney, you should be so proud of yourself.
“I felt every emotion coming through that screen, what an insane talent you are . Honestly can’t wait to see the next few months this storyline is so gripping and every single one of you involved should ‘take a bow’.”
A third also added to the conversation on social media: “Sydney you are an amazing actress your performance was incredible keep up the good work on the show.”

Away from the cobbles, Sydney recently announced she will be starring in a short film, called Through The Eyes Of Bairns. The story tackles the issue of domestic abuse.
The news was announced in a post on Instagram, as Sydney will be playing the young adult version of a character called Rose. The post was captioned: “Introducing the incredible Sydney Martin who’ll be playing the role of Young Adult Rose.
“During flashbacks, we’ll see how Rose came to be estranged from her father, Ivan, all those years ago. Rose has always been headstrong but as we watch her grow and discover who she is, Rose also uncovers the dark secret of who her father really is and just what horrors he’s capable of…”

Sydney Martin’s Coronation Street co-stars rushed to the comments to show their support. Cait Fitton, her on-screen best friend Lauren, said: “Proud of you my besto” with a red love heart emoji.
Liam McCheyne, who portrays Dylan, wrote: “Go smash it Syd!! X.” Meanwhile, hundreds of fans took to the comments to send their congratulations to the star.
