Cain (Jeff Hordley) has been a staple on the soap for 25 years – making his debut in 2000. As the troublemaking village lothario, Cain has become a firm favourite with fans over the years.
He’s also played a part in several big storylines too. From his romance with cousin Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) to his affair and subsequent relationship with Moira (Natalie J. Robb), his time in the Dales has not been short of drama.
Especially at the moment, as recently, Cain found out that his son Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) was murdered by John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth). As fans will recall, John killed Nate last year and dumped his body into a lake.
Nate’s body was eventually found and John managed to frame an innocent person. However, the truth came crashing down for John this month after his crimes were exposed.
With everyone out to get him, John has blackmailed Caleb Miligan (William Ash) to help him get away. If he didn’t, he would tell the police about his wife Ruby (Beth Cordingly) murdering Anthony Fox (Nicholas Day).
In Tuesday’s episode (September 23) Caleb drove John out of the village, but after he stopped in the middle of the woods, it soon emerged that Cain was in on the plan and was armed with a shotgun.

A showdown then took place as Cain unleashed his anger on John for killing his son. Later on though, John revealed that if Cain killed him, a scheduled email detailing Anthony’s murder would be sent to the police.
Both Cain and Caleb were startled, and John then attempted to attack Cain with a rock. However, Cain caught him and pointed the shotgun gun with the episode ending with the gun going off.

But now, fans are convinced that Cain is going to kill John Sugden which could lead to the character’s exit. On an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, one person said: “Let’s hope Cain pulled the trigger on John!”
Someone else penned: “I don’t want that to happen because then Cain will be sent to prison!” A third wrote: “That’s true actually.” Another also penned: “I thought that too. Or they would have to cover up another murder again.” A fifth wrote: “Maybe he gets sent to prison for a while?”
