Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace) has had her fair share of turmoil since she arrived in EastEnders, nobody could ever accuse her of being dull.

But since the return of her daughter, Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan), the turmoil has been coming thick and fast.

She was at first, blissfully unaware of the mission Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) had undertaken to track her down after she fled from Stacey Slater’s (Lacey Turner) flat.

It was young son Tommy Moon (Sonny Kendall) who eventually managed to bring his half-sister home, though the reunion between mother and daughter was halted via a bullet from nearby Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) and Jack Branning (Scott Maslen).

While views learned of several key events in Zoe’s life while she’s been away from the Square, particularly the birth of her twins, one of which was tragically stillborn while the other she left at the hospital and her brief dalliance with Max Branning (Jake Wood), Kat remained unaware.

She found out about the former, when dodgy detective, Greg Dolan (Dean Williamson), who Zoe had hired with Max’s money to find her surviving baby and was terrified she’d left for dead after things went awry, returned and held her hostage.

Zoe finally opened up to her mum about her baby, later revealing that Dennis Rickman (Nigel Harman) is the father while locked in a particularly bitter showdown with nemesis Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean).

Zoe’s second secret, her connection with Max, is under threat when the man himself re-emerges in Walford, just in time for his daughter Lauren Branning’s (Jacqueline Jossa) surprise wedding to Peter Beale (Thomas Law).

When Kat spies a close moment between Zoe and Max, she’s quick to action. She warns Zoe away from him in no uncertain terms, desperate to protect her daughter from yet more chaos.

Will Zoe listen to her mum? Almost certainly not, but will Kat discover the true nature of the relationship between Max and her daughter?
