Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) and Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) are both hiding secrets that could destroy their relationship in Emmerdale.

Recently in the ITV soap, Bernice Blackstock (Samantha Giles) returned for Gabby and Vinny’s wedding. While she was pleased to be back, she wasted no time in confronting Gabby about an important piece of information.

It became apparent that Gabby had cheated on Vinny. It was an unexpected twist, given we’ve spent so long thinking Vinny was the only person not being honest in the partnership.

Vinny still hasn’t told Gabby about his thoughts surrounding his sexuality. Earlier this year, Vinny tried to kiss his friend Kammy Hadiq (Shebz Miah). He immediately went into denial, telling Kammy that the move was just a joke, and that he was definitely straight.

Despite attempting to ignore the doubts, they haven’t gone away. Vinny took to an LGBTQ+ forum in an attempt to find some clarity, and then got talking to a man called Mike.

Vinny connected with Mike and, for the first time, felt comfortable enough to say the thoughts in his head out loud. Sadly, Mike was all an act. When he visited Vinny’s, he suggested that he wanted them to sleep together. It was in this moment that Vinny realised he had been played, and tried to flee the house in fear.

Mike, real name Graham, grabbed Vinny and brutally attacked him. He then stole money from his bank account and ran.

A couple of days later, Vinny was paid a visit by two police officers. They explained they were investigating Graham, and wanted to ask him a few questions about why he gave the man so much money.

Vinny was left torn. If he kept quiet and denied knowing Graham, his crime would continue. However, if he opened up about the attack, it would increase the chance of Gabby finding out.

On his own wedding day, Vinny made himself suspiciously late as he was secretly at the police station giving a statement against Mike.

Vinny and Gabby went through with the wedding – with her also hiding the fact she’s slept with someone else – and the lying pair even began discussing Vinny adopting Thomas and officially becoming his dad.

In this evening’s episode, Vinny and Gabby returned from their honeymoon. Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) popped by, and picked up on Gabby acting strangely.

Once Vinny had left the house, Gabby confirmed her betrayal to Laurel.

She later revealed more details, explaining that she was charmed by a man she met in Portugal and slept with him in a spur of the moment. Gabby was full of regret, and told Laurel that the incident just made her realise how much she loves Vinny.

As far as Gabby was concerned though, she was going to embrace her mum’s way of thinking with this. She believed if she ignored it for long enough, the problem would just go away.

While Gabby takes the ‘ignorance is bliss’ approach, the same cannot be said for Vinny, who’s now received a letter regarding Mike/Graham’s upcoming court appearance.

In upcoming episodes, Vinny learns that Gabby has been called as a witness for the trial.

Fast-talking Vinny tries to lie about what the court case is about; he just can’t bring himself to destroy the woman he loves. Instead, Vinny then decides to throw in the towel and pulls out as a witness.

The family is celebrating Thomas’ adoption when an unwelcome visitor arrives in the village – Mike. He’s now free to terrorise Vinny how he likes and knows just the way to do it – turning the screws by telling Vinny he must give him Gabby’s money, or else.

So, Vinny makes a deal with the devil – if Mike keeps away from Gabby, he’ll testify to get the case thrown out. But Vinny is being unusually savvy – he really plans to tell the court the absolute truth.

Sadly though, as savvy as he may be on the one hand, on the other he’s terrible at lying and Gabby smells something fishy. She gives him a chance to come clean, but he lies more.

Vinny heads to the court armed with his plan to take Mike down. Mike is gobsmacked when Vinny starts telling the truth of what happened, but he chokes – Gabby walks in.

Vinny is seconds away from telling the room what Mike did to him for questioning his sexuality. Will he finish what he’s saying and finish his marriage?
