Coronation Street’s Carla Connor (Alison King) and Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) have had a rough few weeks to say the least, thanks to the resurrection of Becky Swain (Amy Cudden).
Thankfully, actress Vicky Myers has filled us with hope that the couple will make it past this obstacle, and all the way down the aisle.
Given that my finger is already on the ‘checkout’ button for a new hat, I was keen to know if the wedding would be going ahead in Ibiza as planned when I caught up with Vicky at the Inside Soap Awards.
‘I don’t know, because it was never set in stone where they would get married, but all being well, there will be wedding bells,’ Vicky assured me, fresh from picking up the awards for Best Actress and Best Partnership.
‘But it’s a soap, so who knows? We know that there’s drama involved, so we’re going to have to wait and see about that one. But hopefully! I would like to see that.’
Although Vicky wasn’t giving anything away, we’re willing to bet that said drama will have something to do with Becky, who has already proven that she is keen to get her wife and daughter back.
Her antics have rubbed Carla up the wrong way, and led her to snap at her love rival on a couple of occasions. Although, if we’re honest, she’s done a really good job at holding her tongue so far!
Fans have obviously been divided by the decision to bring Becky back into Lisa’s life, and even Vicky admitted that she wasn’t keen on the idea at first.
‘No offence to Amy at all but I was like, “Oh no!”
‘But then when we talked about it and we went further into Lisa and Becky’s relationship and what that was like and when they first met and so on, I thought actually that’s a really interesting story to tell.
‘Where it ends up, I don’t know, but for now I thought it was something that needed to be told.’
It seems as though this story is nowhere near its end, as Vicky promised ‘lots more to come’.
‘We’ve all been working incredibly hard and the writers have been brilliant. People who have been writing in and messaging and doing all the reels and the edits.
‘It’s really interesting because there are people that can see all aspects of the relationships and the dynamics, so, let’s wait and see what’s around the corner!’
It is impossible to ignore the fact that there are some huge events coming up in Corrie, including the 65th anniversary and the major crossover episode with Emmerdale.
In fact, my detective skills lead me to believe that Vicky may be involved in the crossover episode, as she let slip that she would be holding onto her awards ‘on the train back to Leeds tomorrow’.
What, pray tell, is in Leeds? Why, the Emmerdale studios and village, of course!
Could we be set to see DS Swain fighting crime in the Dales? There’s certainly plenty to be solved!
