Coronation Street star Vicky Myers has revealed her early doubts over Lisa Swain’s huge new storyline. The police detective’s world was turned upside-down earlier this month as her wife Becky made a shocking return from the dead.
Becky’s reappearance has risked causing major trouble for Lisa’s new relationship with Carla Connor, just after they’d got engaged in heartwarming scenes. Can the couple defy the odds and battle through the inevitable tensions to come?

When Vicky caught up with us on the red carpet at the Inside Soap Awards 2025 last night (29 September), we asked if she could reassure Swarla fans over the couple’s future.
Careful not to give too much away, Vicky laughed: “I don’t know if I can reassure them about much, to be fair! We know that Becky is back and there’s a lot to unpack with that.
“There’s still obviously 20 years of history between Lisa and Becky. And obviously Becky is Betsy’s mum, so this has really thrown a spanner in the works, to put it lightly.
“So I think it’s going to be really interesting for the viewers to watch this whole dynamic play out. To have that understanding as to this history that they’ve got together, where they were 20 years ago, and what was happening when these two women found something in each other and had to wait to get married. They got married and had a child, so there’s a lot to come.”
Asked how long she knew about Corrie‘s plans to bring in Becky, Vicky admitted that she was initially unsure whether the story was a good idea.
“Not too long, but it was quite a while,” Vicky told us. “We had a discussion about it and Coronation Street were brilliant with that.
“We sat down a couple of times and [producer] Kate [Brooks] went through lots of different scenarios and how it was going to be done, because obviously we needed to pull a story out of the bag, which the writers have done so brilliantly.
“[We discussed] when it was going to land, what was going to happen and obviously who was going to play Becky, because that was massively important.
“I think you’ll all agree that Amy [Cudden]’s doing a fantastic job. She’s coming in – in what could be a very difficult situation – and she’s just grabbed the bull by the horns and got on with it.
“It was quite a while and it was a bit: ‘I don’t really want that to happen!’ But once we discussed it, it became clear why it had to happen. And I think that’s massively important – why it’s happening. And that’s all I can say.”
On whether she wants Lisa and Carla’s relationship to survive, Vicky replied: “Absolutely! But equally, there has to be the drama because with the highs, you get the lows.
“You’ve got to have that equilibrium and that balance. So all being well, if I had it my way, then yes of course they would. But who knows what’s to come?”
Vicky was speaking after a successful night for Swarla. The couple were named Best Partnership at the Inside Soap Awards, while Vicky won the Best Actress prize.
Responding to the wins, Vicky said: “It’s extraordinary and unbelievable – brilliant. I’m lost for words, really. I’m very grateful to the fans for voting for these two awards. It’s extraordinary and I couldn’t be happier – and Ali [King]’s over the moon as well.”
