Emmerdale reveals who catches Caleb helping John escape in early ITVX release

The following article contains spoilers from an episode of Emmerdale that hasn’t aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX.

Caleb Miligan (William Ash) has got a new problem on his hands after helping John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) flee the country in Emmerdale, and it involves Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson).

On Tuesday, Caleb assisted in Cain Dingle’s (Jeff Hordley) revenge plan. He tricked John into thinking he was going to drive him to Rotterdam, but actually drove him to the woods for a showdown with the father of the man he killed.

With a shotgun in hand, Cain unleashed his anger towards John. He was struggling to accept that John had supported the family in the aftermath of Nate’s murder, all while trying to cover up his involvement at the same time.

Sitting in the van, waiting for the gun to go off, Caleb suddenly had a change of heart and realised he does have a moral compass after all. He raced through the woods and tried to prevent Cain from making a massive mistake.

The instalment ended with Caleb, Cain and John arguing and the gun going off. In the episode that aired yesterday, it was quickly confirmed no-one had been shot.In an unexpected twist, Caleb prevented Cain from committing murder by attacking him with a shovel. Bit extreme if you ask us, but Caleb needed to do something to buy him and John some time without being interrupted.

They shoved Cain in the boot of his car and then drove to the border. The plan was to get to Rotterdam, Caleb would go to a service station and during that period, John would escape the van and create a new life elsewhere.

The two characters were very nearly caught out when officers decided to conduct a routine check on Caleb’s truck. In the clear due to John hiding under a sheet, Caleb got back behind the wheel and drove off.

The deal was simple – Caleb would let John go and in return, he’d confirm the location of Anthony Fox’s body, and delete the email that was scheduled to go to the police. Caleb and John got to Rotterdam, which meant all John hand to do was give Caleb a note and prove the email had been cancelled.

In tonight’s episode, Caleb believed things were slowly going to get better for his family. He was confronted by Cain, who still had the gun in his hand, but remained strong and defiant in his decision. He was adamant as well that if Cain was in his position, he would’ve done the same thing to protect his loved ones.

In the pub back room, Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) was stunned to discover Caleb had let John walk free, and couldn’t help but feel he would come back to the village for him.

Aaron was left in a panic, but Caleb was certain John would stick to their plan and stay away. His odd sense of trust in John was also proved earlier in the day, when Caleb went to the exact location John had noted down on that paper, dug a hole, and found Anthony’s rotten corpse.

For most of the instalment, it did look as though Caleb’s risk had paid off. Yes, Cain wasn’t comfortable with it, but letting John go has prevented the police from digging (sorry bad choice of words) into Anthony’s disappearance again.

Just as the episode drew to a close, Caleb was at the depot. He was paid a visit by Jai, who had spent the past few days annoyed at Caleb for not communicating with him at work.
A smug Jai presented his laptop and revealed CCTV footage of John and Caleb together by the van. It was crushing news.Caleb immediately wondered what Jai would require in return for his silence.

He smirked. Jai wasn’t sure quite yet but with the ball in his court, he isn’t going to make the next few weeks easy for Caleb.
