Chicago Fire loses yet another cast member as fans fume they’re ‘not liking the changes’

Michael Bradway joins the growing list of departures from the long-running NBC drama Chicago Fire.

The program is going through more changes as Michael becomes the third cast member to exit the show ahead of its upcoming 14th season, according to reports. The 26-year-old actor, who played Jack Damon, the half-brother of Taylor Kinney’s character Kelly Severide, will not be returning when the hit drama returns later this year.

The TV star has joined the cast of Prime Video’s adaptation of Every Summer After, a series based on the bestselling 2022 novel by Carley Fortune. Production on the new show is already underway. He confirmed the news on Instagram, writing, “Couldn’t be more excited to be your Charlie,” referring to the role he’ll be playing in the new series.

Although Bradway is leaving for now, producers are reportedly open to bringing him back in the future, depending on scheduling, according to TVLine.

Bradway’s departure hasn’t gone unnoticed by fans, with many expressing concern over the number of cast changes in such a short time.

One viewer said, “Not liking the changes. He’s out, someone else is in – it’s too much turnover.” Another added, “Please get this show more stable characters.” Meanwhile, some of his fans congratulated him on his new role. One person wrote, “congrats Michael!!” A second viewer chimed in, “One of my favourite Books! Congrats!”

Others took to social media to question the show’s direction and whether the growing number of exits could affect its future. His exit follows the departures of Daniel Kyri (Darren Ritter) and Jake Lockett (Sam Carver), who will also not return for Season 14.

In addition, Kara Killmer (Sylvie Brett) and Eamonn Walker (Chief Wallace Boden) left the show during Season 12, though Walker is expected to appear in a recurring role.

Now entering its 14th season, Chicago Fire remains one of NBC’s longest-running scripted dramas. The series, which debuted in 2012, follows the lives of firefighters and paramedics at the fictional Firehouse 51.

While some viewers are concerned about the turnover, the show has weathered cast changes before and continues to be a solid performer for the network. NBC renewed the series in May 2025, with new episodes expected to air later this year.
