Coronation Street fans have ‘worked out’ Becky Swain’s new cobbles romance.

Police officer Becky (Amy Cudden) made her debut on the ITV soap this month as the supposed dead wife of Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers). In 2021, Becky was said to have been killed after chasing an assailant, who jumped into a getaway car.

Tragically, they mowed her down, with Becky dying at the scene. Since then, Lisa and daughter Besty (Sydney Martin) have attempted to move on, while still grieving Becky’s loss.

Last month, Lisa got engaged to Carla Connor (Alison King) and everything seemed to be going well for the smitten couple.

However, it turns out that Becky is actually alive, and she made her bombshell arrival last week – much to the shock of Lisa. Becky explained that she ‘had to die’ so she could go into witness protection after an undercover operation went wrong.

As expected Lisa was overcome with emotion over the news, and when Carla found out, she was equally as floored. But when Becky asked to see Betsy, Lisa wasn’t having any of it, adamant that she couldn’t know the truth about Becky’s fate.

In Wednesday’s episode (September 17) though, Carla invited Becky round to talk more about the situation with Lisa. However, Lisa still refused to entertain the idea. Later on, Becky watched Betsy at the precinct and mistaking Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) for a thug, Becky blew her cover by rushing to Betsy’s side.

Betsy was left speechless after coming face-to-face with her mum and back at Lisa’s house, the dysfunctional family attempted to talk it out – with Lisa agreeing that Becky could stick around for a while, much to Betsy’s delight.

And now, with Becky seeming to become more of a regular on the soap, fans have already predicted a romance between her and fellow cobbles resident. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one person said: “I don’t want a Becky and Lisa reunion! Can the writers put her with someone else please?”

Someone else chimed in and predicted Glenda Shuttleworth (Jodie Prenger) and wrote: “I’m thinking Glenda?” A third agreed: “Might be.”

Echoing their thoughts, another wrote: “She would finally have a big storyline so I’m here for it lol.” A fifth declared: “As long as it’s not Lisa.”
