A former Coronation Street icon could be making a comeback to the ITV soap as Carla Connor’s new love interest.
Carla (played by Alison King) and Lisa (portrayed by Vicky Myers) began their romance last year, much to the delight of the audience. However, it’s safe to say their journey hasn’t been smooth sailing.
Earlier this year, Carla’s murderous brother Rob Donovan (Marc Bayliss) escaped from prison and took Carla and Lisa hostage. The incident resulted in Lisa’s daughter Betsy (Sydney Martin) being shot. Thankfully, Betsy recovered and Rob was returned to prison.
Further drama ensued when police officer Lisa was taken off duty due to her struggles following the death of her colleague Craig Tinker (Colson Smith).
Additionally, Lisa is also trying to uncover the truth behind the murder of her late wife Becky (Amy Cudden).
Despite all the turmoil, Carla and Lisa have recently been concentrating on their relationship, which has been growing stronger. This month, the couple got engaged.
However, Lisa was shocked this week when Becky appeared, revealing that she isn’t actually dead. In Friday’s episode (September 12), Becky explained that she entered witness protection after an undercover operation went awry.

Carla was utterly gobsmacked upon meeting Becky, and later, she left Lisa at the factory to have a heart-to-heart. It was evident that Carla was struggling to come to terms with her fiancé’s miraculous return from the ‘dead’.
However, Corrie fans are now speculating that Carla and Lisa’s relationship is on the rocks. Moreover, they reckon they’ve sussed out who Carla’s next romantic interest might be.
On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one viewer speculated: “Carla and Lisa are going to split aren’t they?”. Another fan concurred with a simple: “Probably.”

A third fan suggested a blast from the past, hinting at Carla’s ex Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) as a potential comeback. They commented: “They need to bring back Peter for Carla!” Echoing the sentiment, another added: “Yes get him back!” And yet another fan expressed their fondness for the pair: “I’ve always loved them together.”
Carla and Peter’s tumultuous history on the show has been marked by cheating, lies, addiction, and heartbreak. Peter was last seen on the soap on Boxing Day 2023, when he departed Weatherfield for a new life overseas after his breakup with Carla.
