Coronation Street fan theory predicts Billy Mayhew drug overdose death in upcoming scenes

With Billy Mayhew set to exit the Coronation Street in the next few months, fans have predicted the circumstances of his death.

Earlier this year it was reported that Daniel Brocklebank would be leaving the ITV soap.

And, it looks as though his character will be ‘killed off,’ with fans wondering how he’ll die.

Billy Mayhew to be ‘killed off’ in Coronation Street

In May, it was reported that Billy Mayhew had been axed from the ITV soap after 11 years.

Both Daniel Brocklebank and Corrie boss Kate Brooks then went on to confirm the exit news.

While the soap is currently keeping the exact details of Billy’s exit a secret, it’s set to be centred around an issue-based storyline over the festive period.

The Sun then reported in July that the character would end up being ‘killed off.’

A source told the publication: “Corrie bosses are busy plotting how to kill off Billy, having decided to axe Daniel earlier this year.

“There aren’t any plans to bring him back onto the soap. So it makes sense to make his exit the most impactful and explosive it can be.

“It’s likely Billy will be a focus point of the Christmas/New Year storylines, with fans expected to be at the edge of their seats in the run-up.”

Coronation Street fan theory predicts Billy drug overdose death

Since hearing the news, Coronation Street fans have started to speculate how Billy could peg it.

Remembering that Billy has struggled with addiction in the past, one fan wondered whether this storyline could resurface.

On Reddit, one viewer asked: “How and when do people think he’ll die?,” on the topic of Billy.

Another fan simply theorised: “Heroin overdose.”

With Billy having lost Paul last year, and with Summer now growing up and Todd being ordered by Theo not to spend much time with him, could he soon turn to drugs once more? And, could it be the end of him this time?
