A Coronation Street star is set to make a comeback to the ITV soap.
Reece Dinsdale first stepped onto the cobbles in 2008, playing Joe McIntyre, the father of Tina, portrayed by Michelle Keegan. During his stint, Joe became embroiled in several pivotal storylines.
In a notable twist, Joe married Gail Platt, played by Helen Worth, in 2010, becoming her fourth husband. However, his time on the show came to a tragic end when he attempted to fake his own death for an insurance payout, ultimately meeting his demise.
Following his departure from Coronation Street, Reece took on the role of villainous Paul Ashdale on rival soap Emmerdale from 2020 to 2022, until his character was killed off.

Now, in an exciting turn of events, Reece has announced his return to Coronation Street, albeit in a different capacity. Instead of reprising his on-screen role, he will be working behind the camera as a director, reports Leicestershire Live.
In a post on his X account, Reece revealed that he will be directing several episodes of the soap later this year.
When asked about his next project, Reece replied: “Another acting role (which, unfortunately, I can’t announce until the theatre does) followed, in the new year, by directing stints on #Emmerdale and #CoronationStreet I’m a very fortunate chap.”

As expected, fans were thrilled to hear about Reece’s latest career development. One enthusiastic supporter wrote: “Gosh how fab for you. You must be thrilled to bits.”
Another added: “No, you are a very talented skilled chap which is why you are in big demand – and I am so happy for you, you deserve it.”
A third fan chimed in: “You’re a very talented chap, Reece. Congratulations.”

Reece is well-acquainted with Coronation Street’s directorial chair, having worked on multiple episodes since 2022. Additionally, he’s directed over 40 episodes of Emmerdale since 2020.
Beyond soaps, Reece has contributed to other TV series, including Pitching In, Moving On, and Secrets and Words.
On his journey into directing, Reece had earlier shared: “I was actually directing on Emmerdale when I was asked, right out of the blue, if I would like to play Paul.
“I’m delighted to announce, therefore, that I shall begin directing once again on the show in a couple of weeks’ time. I’m the cat that got the cream!”.
