Coronation Street star Joe Layton has teased there’s ‘much more to come’ from some as his co-stars, with one of the newcomers related to a Britain’s Got Talent star.
The actor has been bringing the drama in the ITV soap ever since his arrival back in February as Mick Michaelis, alongside his wife Lou, played by Farrel Hegarty.
But the drama was nothing compared to what’s been happening in recent episodes, with Mick’s true colours being exposed, with both Lou and PC Craig Tinker on the other end of his violent behaviour.
This week, Corrie has been airing a string of special episodes following the stories of Craig and DC Kit Green, who viewers recently discovered was a childhood friend of Mick’s, before Kit spearheaded an attack that left Mick taking the full rap.
Things started to unravel when Craig was seen excitedly heading to Weatherfield Police Station for his latest placement with CID. He was instructed by DS Lisa Swain to shadow DC Kit Green and was eager to get stuck in.
But Kit clearly had other things on his mind, having discovered that Brody Michaelis could be his biological son, after the teen was released from the Secure Training Centre (STC).

Kit was soon seen getting on the wrong side of childhood pal Mick once again, before dropping a comment about his wife, Lou, not being as ‘loyal’ as he’d like to think, sending Mick into an aggressive spiral.
Later, having gone back into uniform following a lack of support from Kit and advice from Lisa, Craig was seen pulling Mick over in his van and wanting to breathalyse him, having pursued him under suspicion of him being a drunk driver.
Mick’s behaviour became increasingly erratic as he believed he was being set up by Kit and when he refused to be breathalysed, Craig tried to arrest him.
However, Mick headed to his van and pulled out a baseball bat and while Craig tried to talk him down, Mick brutally used it to attack him. He ordered him to get up but when he didn’t move, he took his bodycam and fled the scene, leaving a motionless Craig bleeding on the ground.
The character was eventually found by Maria Windass and rushed to the hospital, but despite waking up and seemingly going in a positive direction, Craig’s health took a sudden decline and he ended up dying as a result of the attack, leaving his friends heartbroken.
But amidst Craig’s demise, Corrie fans heard Lou telling Mick she was done with his abusive ways, having tried to run away with their daughters after he attack her with a glass bottle, and that she wouldn’t give him an alibi for the time Craig was attacked, sending him into another aggressiveve rage and out to find Kit.

Meanwhile, Lou did a runner and Tim Metcalfe, who has earlier been concerned and took Lou to the hospital to get checked over, was left looking after her and Mick’s daughters, taking them back to the home he shares with his wife Sally Metcalfe.
The scenes marked the debut of young actresses Savanna Pennington and Molly Kilduff in the role of the two girls. And it is Molly who has a familiar face in her family.
Last week, Molly’s sister Jade, who is part of sign language choir Sign Along With Us who made it to the final of Britain’s Got Talent in 2020, took to Instagram to say how proud she was of her sister.
Jade shared pictures of the pair on the Cobbles and said: “Could not be prouder of you Molly Moo !! Such a beautiful, funny, confident, talented and above all kind little girl. Shining bright on those cobbles like the star you are @mollykilduff_ @coronationstreet.”
Diana also shared a video to Molly’s Instagram page, which she runs, in which the youngster could be seen on the Trafford-based set. She excitedly says to the camera in a video: “I can tell you my surprise! I’m on Coronation Street! I feel like the luckiest girl in the world.

“I’m having the best time.” She then said: “Meet me on the Cobbles,” before running off down the famous location. A message alongside the post read: “Mollys exciting news is now out!! She has a part on coronation street and we are all so proud of her.
“She is having the most wonderful time filming and cannot say thanks enough to the amazing @carolgodbystw & @lintonmanagement . And also thank you to everyone at @coronationstreet for making her feel so welcome and making her days there the best.”
And now Joe has showed his support. Alongside a video of Molly and Savanna dancing in front of the iconic Rovers Return, he said: “These two are gonna shine in @coronationstreet… Brilliant work tonight and so much more to come from them! [clapping emojis].”
