The radio star has shown his support as his son, Luca Toolan, was reunited with his co-stars in a major boost this week
The famous dad of a former Coronation Street star has shown his support as his son was reunited with his co-stars in a major boost this week.
A number of Weatherfield’s finest – both past and present – were seen celebrating their latest achievements at the 2025 Inside Soap Awards, which took place on Monday night (September 29).
The ITV soap took home five awards in total, including the top gong of the night for best soap, with Corrie bringing that trophy back home to Manchester for the second year in a row.
Also among the winners were Luca Toolan, who was seen exiting Corrie earlier this year as Mason Radcliffe in a heartbreaking knife crime storyline.
Also picking up the award for the storyline was Sally Carman-Duttine, whose alter ego, Abi Webster, discovered Mason bleeding and badly wounded in Weatherfield Precinct after he had been stabbed with a “zombie knife” during a fight with his brothers Matty (Seamus McGoff) and Logan (Harry Lowbridge).
Despite Abi alerting the emergency services and staying with Mason as he fought for his life, Mason passed away in hospital.
Mason’s death brought back Abi’s feelings and memories in relation to the death of her son Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni) in a hate crime committed by Corey Brent (Maximus Evans) in May 2021 and viewers began to see her suffer from flashbacks and hallucinations and depression as the post-traumatic stress disorder took a hold on her life.
Mason’s death and Abi’s PTSD won the Best Storyline accolade at the Inside Soap Awards, and Sally credits the win to Owen Lloyd-Fox, who wrote the episodes.
Following the awards bash, Luca took to Instagram with snaps of himself, Sally and Harry with the award and said: “As a United fan this is the closet I’m getting to silverware this season, so I’m gonna milk this one. Thanks to all the team at Corrie for this love you all!”
Sally was quick to respond to the post, as the actress gushed: “I’m in AWE.” Meanwhile, Bill Fellows, who plays Stu Carpenter in Corrie who tried to take Mason under his wing, added: “Thats my boy.”
But it was Luca’s dad, Mike Toolan, who had a sweet message to share. The Hits Radio host, whose career in radio has spanned more than 20 years so far, also shared photos from the event on Instagram and said: “They only went and bloody did it.
