EXCLUSIVE: Two legends from beloved ITV soaps Coronation Street and Emmerdale have spoken exclusively to Daily Star about the upcoming crossover episode scheduled for January

Two huge soap stars have addressed the Coronation Street and Emmerdale crossover episode.

The ITV series are set to collaborate in an upcoming episode, which will see characters from both shows interacting as their storylines merge together. However, the broadcaster has remained secretive and no details have been unveiled to the public.

Corrie and Emmerdale fans are growing angsty as the highly anticipated crossover draws ever closer and at the 2025 National Television Awards, Daily Star managed to collar two actors who gave some insight into what is going on at ITV.

Coronation Street’s Sue Devaney, who plays Debbie Webster, spoke exclusively to Daily Star and said: “Well, I’ve had the script. I thought they were just looking into Woolpack and having a drink. Who knows, it’s a little bit of everything. I think it’s going to be high drama!”

On the other hand, when asked if she could reveal any details Emmerdale’s Lisa Riley joked: “Nothing, literally. They’ll take my dress off me tonight if I tell you!”
Back in May, plans for the crossover episode were announced and ITV released an official statement: “ITV’s flagship soaps Coronation Street and Emmerdale will join forces in an unprecedented, one-off special episode to launch the broadcaster’s new power hour of soap which begins on ITV1 and STV in January 2026.”
“For the first time in British soap history, the hour-long episode will see characters from both soaps come together in a celebration of the soap genre.”

“To herald the beginning of the new scheduling pattern, both soaps will mark the occasion in spectacular style as the combined production teams embark on an ambitious stunt that will have everlasting consequences for everyone involved.”
ITV have promised that the “two distinctive worlds of Emmerdale and Coronation Street will merge for one night only” and branded the collaboration a “mash-up” of viewers’ “favourite communities”.
“The producers, scriptwriters and production teams have conceived an ingenious way of linking the two universes, but with characters then returning to the soaps they are renowned for inhabiting in Manchester and Yorkshire.”
