EastEnders star Letitia Dean has revealed how Strictly Come Dancing inspired her health transformation, admitting she’d ‘had enough’ admission.

Fans of the BBC soap were delighted to see Leitia return as the iconic Sharon Watts on Monday night (September 22).

Sharon had been away from Albert Square for several months after she travelled to Australia in the wake of Martin Fowler’s death.

On top of this, Sharon’s affair with her ex Grant Mitchell led to her relationship with Teddy Mitchell coming to an end.

The fan favourite character, who has been on the soap since its debut year in 1985, was stunned to see Zoe Slater back in Walford.

Sharon and Zoe have a turbulent history together as a result of the latter having a romance with the late Dennis Rickman, Sharon’s former love who was fatally stabbed on New Year’s Eve 2005.

On top of this, Sharon still isn’t convinced that Zoe was innocent of her dad ‘Dirty’ Den Watts death, with Chrissie Watts previously framing her for his murder.

Despite not being happy to see Zoe back for the first time in two decades, Sharon called a truce with Zoe in The Vic in an attempt to move on from the past.

Away from the soap, Letitia has opened up about her health having gone from 10st 4lbs to 8st 3lbs after appearing on Strictly in 2007.

According to the actress, she went down four dress sizes after giving up on ‘extreme dieting’ and began eating ‘lots of greens’.

She told Closer Magazine: “It started with Strictly Come Dancing because I felt great by the end of the show and the live tour.

“But the main reason I wanted to do something about my figure was that I was so sick of extreme dieting and my weight yo-yoing.

“I just woke up one morning, and I’d had enough. For years and years – as long as I can remember – my weight had yo-yoed up and down. I’d go on fad diets like Atkins or I’d only eat eggs.”

Letitia competed on the BBC dancing competition back in 2007, where she was paired with professional dancer Darren Bennett.

Making it to the quarter-finals of the show’s fifth season, Letitia became the tenth person to be voted off after losing to eventual winner Alesha Dixon in the dance-off.
