Zoe makes her move!
EastEnders spoilers follow for Wednesday’s episode (1 October), which is available to watch now on streaming service BBC iPlayer and hasn’t yet aired on TV.
EastEnders’ Stacey Slater got a major shock when her former flame Max Branning walked into The Vic this week. But an even bigger shock was ahead, as she discovers his unexpected entanglement with her cousin Zoe.
Max wasn’t exactly given a warm welcome by the community in today’s episode, as he made a surprise entrance at Lauren and Peter’s wedding reception.
While Oscar was pleased to see his estranged dad again, Lauren remained frosty – but his attention was diverted when he spotted Zoe, who he had a secret connection with earlier this year.
Meanwhile, Max’s appearance brought up old feelings for Stacey, and upstairs in the pub Zoe advised her not to go near him again.
But she evidently had an ulterior motive, as she and Max later got talking and caught up. There were still sparks between them, though Kat spotted them together and warned her daughter to stay away.
Tensions continued with Lauren when Max questioned her and Peter’s relationship – but when he saw Stacey leaving the pub, he headed after her.
Max tearfully reminded Stacey of the good times they shared, making it clear he had changed since he left Walford, so she reluctantly invited him inside for a drink.

The pair had an emotional catch up as Stacey opened up about Martin’s death, and they came tantalisingly close to kissing.
However, they were interrupted by Zoe, and once Max left, she encouraged Stacey to get away from her old flame for good and get on the flight to Brazil tonight after all.
Lily overheard this chat and agreed, telling her mum that she should do what is best for her and grab this opportunity while she can with Hope and Arthur.
Stacey eventually decided that she would leave, with time ticking for her to make her flight that evening.

But with Stacey soon to be out of the way, Zoe texted Max to meet her outside and admitted that she has feelings for him.
Max had his reservations about Zoe after what happened with Greg, but she convinced him that they could pick up where they left off.
Max and Zoe shared a kiss – but they were spotted by a horrified Stacey. How will she respond to this huge betrayal?
