Emmerdale Vanessa Woodfield star Michelle Hardwick met her real-life wife Kate Brooks on the set of the ITV soap but the producer has since moved over to Coronation Street

Emmerdale star Michelle Hardwick has paid tribute to her famous wife as they celebrate a special occasion together after meeting on the set of the ITV soap.

The soap star, 49, has played the role of village vet Vanessa Woodfield since 2012 when she was introduced as the daughter of Frank Clayton (Michael Praed) and half-sister of Tracy Metcalfe (Amy Walsh).

However, some soap fans may not realise that Emmerdale is where Michelle met her real life wife Kate Brooks.

Talented TV executive Kate previously worked as a series producer on Emmerdale, before being appointed as Coronation Street’s producer last year, and love blossomed on set.
The couple got married in 2019 after ditching a big showbiz wedding and flew off to Elvis Presley’s iconic Graceland in Memphis to tie the knot.

Now, six years on from their American dream wedding, Michelle and Kate have celebrated their sixth wedding anniversary.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday (September 10), Michelle shared a string of snaps together with her wife from over the years.
The Emmerdale star sweetly captioned the post: “6 years ago today I was lucky enough to say ‘I do’ to my soulmate.”

She added: “Happy anniversary to my beautiful wife, the one who brings the fun, the calm, the abundance of love to everything we do. I adore you Brooksy. Here’s to many more adventures with our gorgeous little gang. We love you .”
The happy couple were met with flurries of well-wishes from soap royalty with Emmerdale’s Amy Walsh, who plays Tracy, writing: “Congratulations gorgeous girls! Feels like two minutes ago!”.

Corrie Sally Carman, who plays Abi Webster, added: “Happy Anniversary you suuuuper cool, fabulous pair”, while EastEnders’ Honey Mitchell star Emma Barton simply comments with love heart emojis.
Speaking to The Mirror in August 2019, Michelle said they would tie the knot abroad in just a few months’ time, but weren’t obsessing over details such as wedding dresses or even the wedding breakfast.

“There’s no magazine deal, we’ll just pick up a few witnesses wherever we are and it will just be me and her,” Michelle said. “We only have a few months to go and we haven’t even got our outfits sorted and that’s because it doesn’t matter. That’s the biggest lesson I learned.”
Michelle added: “We’ll get married abroad, hit a few bars and probably have chicken and chips for our wedding breakfast. Then a big party for our family when we get back to England. That’s all I can tell you! It will be ace.”
The happy couple have since gone on to welcome two children – Teddy and Betty.
