John, portrayed by Oliver Farnworth, made his debut in the Dales last August as Victoria Sugden’s long-lost brother. Since then, his character has been shrouded in secrecy, with a trail of questionable actions, including the accidental death of Nate Robinson.
The crossover buzz intensified when fans recalled Farnworth’s previous role as Andy Carver in Coronation Street. In that role, Andy faked his identity as Gavin Rodwell’s son and was later presumed dead after a dramatic storyline involving Pat Phelan.

However, some viewers now believe that Andy didn’t die and has returned to the soap world under a new alias.
One fan speculated: ” Emmerdale have been absolutely genius with casting Oliver Farnworth. On Corrie, he portrayed a character with a false identity and claimed to be Gavin, the son of Michael Rodwell played by Les Dennis, later to be known as Andy Carver.” Another added, “Maybe Andy didn’t die and he’s actually come to the Dales as John instead.”
The theory gains traction considering the upcoming special episode where Emmerdale and Coronation Street will cross over. This unprecedented event has fans eagerly anticipating potential connections between characters from both soaps.
