Soap watchers will recall that April Windsor, played by Amelia Flanagan, and Dylan Penders, played by Fred Kettle, have found themselves under the control of criminal and drug dealer Ray Walters, played by Joe Absolom.

April meets a young lad but is quickly noticed by a patrolling PC Swirling who insists on giving her a lift back to the village as she covers up her real intentions.

Later in the episode, PC Swirling drops April off in the village, leaving stepmother Rhona Goskirk baffled and panicked as she demands answers. April lies with a cover story but will it be enough to fool PC Swirling and Rhona who are confused over her hanging out at a notoriously seedy carpark?
With PC Swirling being a prominent figure once again on Thursday’s episode, soap watchers may be interested to learn about the actor who plays the village favourite officer.
Who is PC Swirling?
PC Mike Swirling is a local police officer who often deals with residents of Emmerdale, he made his first debut on the hit ITV soap back in 2004.
Twenty years later and PC Swirling is still a firm village regular, having appeared in more than 263 episodes.

PC Swirling is played by actor Andy Moore. Actor Andy has been in lots of various television shows, including Sky Peals in 2023, Fred & Marv in 2021, The Bill in 2007, The Royal in 2006 and Dream Team in 2002.
In 2005, he made an appearance in Coronation Street as a driver for two episodes. Five years later, he returned to the cobbles when he took on the role of a photographer.
Music career
In 2022, Andy updated his fans with his latest achievement on his Facebook page. He shared a YouTube video by indie band Courting, proudly showcasing his work.
Alongside the video link, he wrote: “Andy Moore starring in a music video for indie band Courting.”
During the coronavirus pandemic, Andy produced and starred in a short 10-minute sketch. The Last Lockdown Sketch was uploaded onto YouTube with a description that reads: “When your online consultation with your doctor goes one massive step further.”

“The doctor instructs his patient through a step by step major operation procedure over Zoom.” He added in the caption: “Hasn’t the last couple of years been strange and frustrating. As a mark of coming out of it this film ridicules the weird time we have just come out of with elaborate exaggeration and a rather dark twist.”
Fans were smitten with the film, and one admirer took to the comments section to write a heartfelt note: “That was excellent I was recommended by our mutual friend Susie Cakl to check it out my partner Kim really enjoyed it as she also loves you in Emmerdale.”
