EMMERDALE’s 7.30pm weeknight slot will be partly filled next year by a new show starring Harry and Jamie Redknapp.

The six part series will follow the father-and-son duo as they spend more time together on a fishing tour across the UK and Europe.

Each episode will see them enter a new real-world fishing competition, travelling to locations ranging from Scottish lochs and rugged coastal cliffs to the Scandinavian fjords and Mediterranean shores.

Along the way, they’ll face a variety of challenges, from stormy seas and slippery riverbanks to intense heat, all in pursuit of the coveted “Catch of the Day” prize.

The change comes as part of ITV’s updated soap schedule, which will see Emmerdale move to 8pm and Coronation Street air at 8.30pm.

ITV has also announced a series of entertainment programmes that will share the new 7.30pm slot.

Millionaire Hot Seat will introduce a faster-paced version of the classic quiz, hosted by Jeremy Clarkson.

It sees six contestants compete for a chance to climb the Million Pound Money Ladder, with no room for hesitation or error.

Celebrity Lingo, fronted by Adil Ray, will see well-known personalities play word games to raise money for charity.

In addition, a second series of Password will return with Stephen Mangan as host.

The format sees contestants and celebrities exchange single-word clues in an effort to guess a mystery password.

Unlike the first series, which featured Alan Carr and Daisy May Cooper as regular captains, the new run will feature different celebrity captains each week, including Chris McCausland, Jordan Banjo, Josie Gibson, Oti Mabuse, Lou Sanders, Sally Lindsay and former rugby player Joe Marler.

Jamie Redknapp previously appeared alongside his dad in his show Harry Redknapp’s Sandbanks Summer.

The 2020 mini-series on ITV featured the former footballer and manager Harry giving a look into his life and the wealthy community of Sandbanks.

Episodes featured family, friends like Razor Ruddock and Joe Pasquale, and famous faces, as well as activities such as boat trips and visits to local landmarks like Corfe Castle.

Currently, Emmerdale airs six episodes per week, Monday to Friday with a double episode on Thursdays.

It was announced back in February that just five 30-minute episodes of each soap will air next year amid ITV budget cuts.

ITV will screen a daily “soap power hour” in 2026, with two back-to-back 30 minute episodes of the soaps.

The new structure will launch with a huge stunt on both soaps and a crossover episode.

The Sun recently revealed Coronation Street and Emmerdale actors were being kept in the dark over the upcoming episode, that will see characters from both soaps interact for the first time ever.
