FBI: CIA – Could a Crossover With FBI Be Coming? Jeremy Sisto Sounds Off as Tom Ellis Joins the Franchise

As FBI wraps its explosive seventh season, it’s not just cliffhangers and character fates grabbing attention—it’s the possibility of a high-stakes crossover with CBS’s upcoming FBI: CIA spin-off starring none other than Lucifer’s Tom Ellis. And one cast member from the flagship show is already raising his hand to be involved.

Jeremy Sisto, who plays Assistant Special Agent in Charge Jubal Valentine, recently shared with ScreenRant his interest in joining the CIA-centric drama. “This new CIA show is something that I’m hoping to be a part of,” Sisto revealed. “I hope that Jubal Valentine can help out with the CIA situation… we don’t know if it will happen. I don’t know if I will get the call. We’ll see. But Jubal would love it.”

And fans would, too.Is Jubal Valentine Leaving FBI Season 7?

The Season 7 finale of FBI left audiences reeling—with the future of key agents in jeopardy and the disturbing implication that someone within the Bureau might be working for the enemy. The setup couldn’t be more perfect for a crossover: when internal corruption threatens national security, what better solution than bringing in a CIA-FBI hybrid team?

Enter FBI: CIA, CBS’s bold new addition to the Dick Wolf universe. Set to premiere this fall, the one-hour crime drama pairs two unlikely partners: a quick-witted, unpredictable CIA case officer (played by Tom Ellis) and a by-the-book FBI agent with unwavering integrity. The duo will operate from the CIA’s New York Station, tackling cases involving domestic threats and international espionage, where the line between legal justice and covert action often blurs.

Tom Ellis, best known for playing the charming devil in Lucifer, is stepping into the role of Hart Hoxton—described as charming, intelligent, and operating far outside the constraints of traditional law enforcement. With Ellis’s charisma and proven screen presence, Hoxton is expected to bring a wild-card energy to the franchise that fans haven’t seen before.I'm More Worried About Jubal After FBI Season 7, Episode 6's Odd Update

Directed by ER alum Eriq La Salle, the series promises sharp dialogue, intense investigations, and the tension of two agencies trying to work in harmony despite fundamentally different codes. The official synopsis teases the tension and humour in this “odd couple” dynamic, but also hints that their differences will ultimately become their strength.

With the existing FBI universe known for intersecting storylines, cross-agency collaborations, and region-hopping investigations, bringing characters like Jubal Valentine into the CIA’s world seems like a natural evolution. The shared setting in New York only increases the likelihood that fans will see familiar faces crossing over.

Whether it’s a cameo, a full storyline arc, or just a shared mission, fans are already imagining how Ellis’s Hoxton might clash—or connect—with the more measured agents of FBI or FBI: International.

Could a CIA operation pull Jubal Valentine into a covert alliance? Could OA or Maggie be tasked to assist? Or will this new agency prove too rogue for even them to handle?

Fall is coming—and with it, the potential for one of the most explosive crossovers in the franchise yet. Stay tuned.
