Earlier in the week, Jenny Connor was spotted trying to win George Shuttleworth’s affections, aiming to outshine her love rival Christina Boyd.
Prior to a dating event at the Rovers Return Inn, George’s sister Glenda Shuttleworth unveiled her scheme to fix the evening so that Jenny had the first chance with George, not Christina.
However, the evening took an unexpected twist when Rita called Jenny to inform her she’d taken a tumble. A concerned Jenny left the event early after hearing the news.
As the storyline develops later this week, Jenny exploits Rita’s accident to her benefit when George delivers soup for the supposedly sick Rita. Caught in her lie, Jenny quickly shoos him away after he drops off the soup, reports the Daily Star.

Given the current plot, many soap fans have been curious about the real age of actress Barbara Knox, who plays Rita. The remarkable actress is 92 years old and has been a fixture on the cobbles since her initial appearance in 1964, before securing a regular role in 1972.
Earlier this year, it was reported that Barbara had signed a new contract to remain on the soap past her 92nd birthday. This means that the Weatherfield favourite will continue to play Rita until at least 2026 and will be a significant part of their 65th anniversary celebrations later this year.
