Viewers are able to decide who takes home the prize in each category. Corrie fans are excited to see Alison King (Carla Connor) and Vicky Myers (Lisa Swain), who have been nicknamed “Swarla”, up for the award for Best Partnership. The couple recently got engaged on screen and purchased a house on Coronation Street, making history as the first same-sex couple to do so.
Taking to social media after the announcement, one “Swarla” fan said: “Yaaassss, please! So much dedication, authenticity, and passion for their characters, chemistry, and storyline!”
A second said: “Everything crossed for them to win.” A third wrote: “These two amazing actresses deserve this so much their acting is insane! Go Swarla xx.”
Vicky Myers is also in the running for Best Actress, opposite her co-star Jack P Shepherd in the Best Actor category. Emmerdale has also been nominated in several categories, including Michael Parr (Ross Barton) for Best Comic performance and Oliver Farnworth (John Sugden) for Best Villain.
Sarah Ellis, editor of Inside Soap magazine, told Digital Spy: “2025 has been a year full of shocks and surprises in the world of soap, from John Sugden’s reign of terror in Emmerdale and Martin’s tragic goodbye in EastEnders, to villainous Clare Devine’s return from the dead in Hollyoaks, and the runaway success of “Swarla” in Coronation Street. But which of our top nominees will be taking home the trophies on the big night?”
