In a breathtakingly beautiful and deeply personal ceremony, Chicago Fire star Jake Lockett and actress Dominique Domingo exchanged vows in one of the most magical settings imaginable — a private cove near Kalihiwai Falls on the lush island of Kauai, Hawaii. The couple, known for their low-key lifestyle, chose to elope on June 18 with only their parents present, making their union an unforgettable experience grounded in love, nature, and authenticity.
Set against the backdrop of a two-tiered waterfall and vibrant Hawaiian greenery, the ceremony embraced the theme of “letting nature take the lead.” The natural beauty of the location meant there was no need for elaborate decorations. “We wanted the vibe to be serene, intimate, and peaceful,” Domingo shared. “And that’s exactly what it was.”
The connection between the couple and nature was deeply symbolic. Domingo, a Taurus born on Earth Day and lovingly nicknamed “Mother Earth,” says she feels most at peace outdoors. Meanwhile, Lockett’s choice to wed by a waterfall had a poetic touch: three months before meeting Domingo, he wrote an unreleased love song near a waterfall in Yellowstone, dreaming of the woman he’d one day meet — and eventually did, at a commercial audition.
The ceremony included meaningful Hawaiian and Polynesian traditions. A Hawaiian ti leaf dipped in ocean water was used to purify the space. Two separate vessels of sand, one from the beach in Mexico where Lockett proposed and one from a Kauai beach, were combined into one, representing the couple’s union. They also participated in a “Honi” ceremony, sharing breath to symbolize life essence.
Their parents met for the first time during the wedding trip, spending several days together in a shared home, bonding over meals, movies, and beach time — building not just a marriage, but a family.
The musical choices for the ceremony were heartfelt and perfectly timed. As the bride arrived, Sabrina Claudio’s “Frozen” played softly. For Lockett’s entrance, “Born to Love” by Ray LaMontagne and Sierra Ferrell filled the air. After the “I do’s,” the newlyweds walked hand-in-hand to “Best Part” by Daniel Caesar featuring H.E.R. — a song also unknowingly chosen by Domingo’s friends for a surprise video message, adding yet another layer of serendipity.
Domingo looked stunning in her “sexy yet sophisticated” Maggie Sottero gown — the very first dress she had ever tried on — while Lockett donned a custom Irish linen suit with a floral Hawaiian lining and the wedding date stitched under the collar.
After the ceremony, the couple celebrated over dinner at Bar Acuda in Hanalei Bay. Domingo changed into a simple white Zara slip dress for the evening, embracing effortless island elegance.
The pair are now looking forward to what lies ahead — not just as husband and wife, but as soulmates ready to take on life’s adventures side by side. “I’ve never felt more seen, protected, and held,” Domingo says. And Lockett agrees: “She is my dream — all the parts I knew I wanted, and others I never imagined, but now can’t live without.”
