Alex is reading Stephanie’s novel in bed when she wakes up and greets him good morning. He’s hooked. And she’s stunned. He’s enjoying the smut, but he also insists Stephanie’s got real talent. He wants Titan to publish it.

No way, Stephanie says. She doesn’t need people to know she writes “salacious drivel.” Alex suggests making up a pen name, which Steph at least says she’ll think about. He goes on some more about how good a writer she is, then admits the sex stuff is hot, too. And that gets them riled up enough to start going at it.

After they finally get up, Alex checks his messages from Xander and starts setting up the hospital acquisition. Stephanie’s excited to hear, though surprised when she hears about EJ’s bid to buy and Kayla’s refusal. She’ll put in a word with her mom, though.

Johnny Pushes EJ to the Brink

EJ tries talking to Johnny in the pub, then pleads with him not to go when Johnny says he’s got no interest. EJ stops him with the words, “I forgive you,” then promises to protect Johnny no matter what. He remembers the night he was shot.

Johnny starts stammering that he can explain, but EJ assures him he understands — and guesses that night is why he backed out of the adoption. “I am so very sorry, Johnny. You are a wonderful person who deserves happiness and a family of his own.”

Johnny, in turn, tells his dad he’s not sorry for that night. “I… I see.” EJ’s taken aback as Johnny confirms that he only feels disgust and hate for his dad now. “I hate you. I always will.”

That pushes EJ too far and he warns his son to tread carefully. He’s not a doormat. And that’s enough for Johnny to snarkily say he knew this “new” EJ wouldn’t last. Even if the coma changed him, the real EJ is still waiting to take over. Regardless, Johnny wants him out of his life forever.

He’s done, but before he leaves, he rubs it in EJ’s face that Xander’s courting him at Titan, to get back at his dad. And he’s going to take the job. EJ sighs once Johnny leaves, then punches a table.

Javi Saves Sarah’s Life

Leo and Javi walk by the pub, talking about whether or not it’s time to quit Gabi Chic. Javi doesn’t know what to do if he quits, but Leo encourages him to think it over and dodge responsibility at work in the meantime.

Sarah’s gasping for breath in the square and Cat runs off to call 911. Javi and Leo show up and Javi runs over, realizes Sarah’s in anaphylactic shock, grabs her epipen and jabs her. “Oh thank God,” Xander utters while everyone around looks on, stunned.

Cat gets Sarah some water, but before Xander can thank Javi, he and Leo vanish. Chanel and Felicity rush out of the bakery to see what’s happening, and Chanel realizes the vegan scones have pistachio milk and Sarah’s allergic to pistachios.

Chanel runs in to check what happened and Xander stands up and starts questioning Felicity, since she brought their order. His temper flares as he demands answers, and Chad and Cat tell him to back off. Then Chanel runs out and says it was all her fault.

She gave Sarah a vegan scone by mistake. Sarah assures her it’s OK, and Cat chimes in suggesting Xander owes Felicity an apology. Xander softens a bit, then sees the paramedics arrive and runs off.

Chanel Has a Breakdown

Alone, Cat and Chad assure an upset Felicity that this is not her fault at all. Chanel gets back over after sending Sarah and Xander off in the ambulance, then reassures Felicity that she’s blameless, too. She closes the bakery for a few hours and takes Felicity in to get her stuff.

Cat thanks Chad for standing up for Felicity, and he’s impressed with Cat stepping in and taking charge. They then get back to planning their date and flirting as they tease each other over the least romantic thing to do.

Chanel gets back with Felicity and Chad walks the Greenes to their car. Chanel sits and starts crying, just as Johnny walks by and rushes over to hold her and comfort her.

Javi Opens Up About His Past

Leo and Javi get to the park, where Leo’s gushing over Javi’s heroism. He also wants Javi to go back to get praised and hailed as a hero, but Javi refuses. He admits he’s got some medical training — he was supposed to be a firefighter/EMT, but decided not to do it after going through the training.

Leo asks why, but Javi tells him it’s a painful topic. He doesn’t want to talk about it now. Someday, maybe, but not now. The two get some ice cream, then Leo asks a few questions about his firefighter days — mostly sexy ones.

Sarah’s resting in a hospital bed when Xander comes in and tells her he canceled their reservation for the weekend. He blames himself for not realizing she was having an allergic reaction.

On the way to the car, Chad and the Greenes walk by the pub, where EJ spots them and asks for a word with his brother. Cat and Felicity leave and EJ teases Chad over being smitten with Ms. Greene.

He then tells Chad he’s making a bid for the hospital, but Kayla’s blocking him. Maybe Chad could put on the charm, since he’s on the board, and persuade the other board members to overrule Kayla.

In the Show’s Final Moments

Javi tells Leo he’s got to get to his current job, leaving his beau to whip out his phone and google Javi’s time in Corpus Christi and see if there’s anything about being a firefighter/EMT. In the hospital, Xander wants to get something to thank Javi — he can’t live without Sarah and Victoria.

Alex really wants to score the hospital deal, but Stephanie suggests since Xander’s out of town, they should go at it again. Chad tells EJ he’ll go to bat for him, but he’s got to move quickly. There’s another buyer: Xander. And it’ll be an uphill battle for EJ.

After getting filled in, Johnny assures Chanel that it was an accident and Sarah’s going to be fine. Sarah and Xander will forgive her. Chanel thanks Johnny and admits that being in his arms felt right. She missed it. He hurt her, but she knows Johnny made the right decision; and she may be ready to forgive him and welcome him back home. (To the new Abe/Paulina home.)
