Kit’s Blackmail Nightmare EXPOSED! Jacob Roberts Confirms Explosive Corrie Flashback Episode!

Coronation Street is bracing for an emotional and explosive episode as actor Jacob Roberts unveils the dark past of Kit Green, a character whose mysterious past and shady relationships are set to take centre stage in an upcoming flashback special. With blackmail, betrayal, and a deeply buried secret threatening to shatter lives in Weatherfield, viewers can expect a gripping rollercoaster of revelations.

In a recent press event, Roberts confirmed that the special episode will finally peel back the layers on Kit’s haunted history — one that intimately ties him to Mick, Lou, and the troubled teen Brody Mis. Fans of the long-running ITV soap will recall that Kit has long been depicted as a stern but conflicted character. Now, the veil is lifting to show just how much of his past he’s desperately trying to suppress.

According to Roberts, Mick’s control over Kit stems from a long-standing secret. “He’s scared,” Roberts admitted. “He knows Mick has something on him — something that could ruin everything. It’s pure blackmail.” He likened the tension between the characters to real-life friendships turned toxic: “You don’t want someone from your past coming back and dragging your skeletons out of the closet.”

The flashback episode — airing Friday, May 16th — will take viewers back to Kit’s teenage years, when he and Mick were inseparable. “He was his best mate at 16,” Roberts reflected. “But now, that bond is being weaponized. Mick hasn’t changed, but Kit has. He’s walked a different path — tried to be better. That contrast is crucial.”

The revelation about their shared past comes to a head as Mick finds himself in hot water following a violent clash with Gary Windass, who stepped in to defend Liam Connor from Mick’s increasingly erratic behaviour. But when the time comes for justice, Kit — now a police officer — fails to hold Mick accountable. Why? Because Mick holds leverage that Kit simply can’t fight.

“It’s a delicate line,” Roberts said. “Kit wants to do the right thing, but Mick’s got him cornered. You push Kit too far, though, and he’ll push back. That’s what makes it so volatile. He’s not a man who can be coerced forever.”

But the drama doesn’t end there.

Kit is hit with yet another emotional bombshell: the possibility that he could be Brody’s biological father. The implications are enormous — not only is Brody Mick’s son in name, but his whole worldview has been shaped by the violent man Kit once called his friend. If Brody really is Kit’s child, it raises questions about the years lost, the lies told, and what it truly means to be a father.

“If it’s true, I think Kit would be blindsided,” Roberts said. “He’d be furious Lou never told him. But at the same time, he might feel helpless — like it’s too late. Brody’s already been raised by Mick. The damage is done.”

Kit’s internal struggle will unfold just as Weatherfield reels from another heartbreaking storyline — the tragic death of beloved character Julie Carp. Julie, played by Katie Cavanagh, returned to the cobbles earlier this year after nearly a decade away. She came back with a heavy secret: a terminal cancer diagnosis she kept from her sister Eileen and the rest of her family.

In a moving twist, Monday night’s episode revealed Julie’s final goodbye. She recorded a heartfelt video message in Victoria Gardens before heading off on a lakeside trip with Eileen. While Eileen was momentarily away getting tea, Julie passed away peacefully, leaving behind only her recorded words and a stunned family.

The emotional aftermath saw Eileen and her son Todd watching Julie’s goodbye video. Todd, sensing something wasn’t quite right, feared Julie may have taken her own life. His suspicions deepened when it was revealed that Julie had Eileen’s medication in her system — triggering a murder investigation that threatens to derail Eileen’s own grieving process.

As Julie’s death is investigated, Kit finds himself drawn into the case, casting further strain on his ability to compartmentalize the ghosts of his own past.

And this loss comes at a pivotal time: Eileen herself is set to exit the series, as actress Sue Cleaver prepares to bid farewell after 25 years on the show. Cavanagh described her return to the show as “bittersweet,” noting the importance of giving closure to Julie’s storyline and offering a poignant final arc for the two sisters.

Meanwhile, Coronation Street continues to explore another heart-wrenching plotline — Debbie Webster’s secret battle with vascular dementia. Actress Sue Devaney, who portrays the vibrant and determined Debbie, will navigate the challenges of early-onset dementia as her character tries to maintain a sense of normalcy while hiding her diagnosis from her loved ones.

The writers, led by producer Kate Brooks, are committed to showcasing the emotional weight of Debbie’s journey. “We knew that Debbie was the right character to explore this diagnosis. Her vibrancy makes the contrast all the more powerful,” Brooks explained.

In upcoming episodes, Debbie’s deteriorating condition will become harder to conceal after an accident at her hotel raises concerns. Only her brother Carl knows the truth — for now — and Debbie remains determined to keep it that way, even as those around her face their own crises.

Weatherfield is no stranger to heartbreak and scandal, but this convergence of storylines — Kit’s blackmail, Julie’s tragic exit, and Debbie’s declining health — is set to deliver one of the most emotionally charged weeks in Coronation Street history.

As secrets unravel and truths come to light, the very fabric of relationships in Weatherfield will be tested. For Kit Green, the stakes couldn’t be higher. Can he outrun his past? Or will the weight of guilt and betrayal finally bring him down?

One thing is certain — no one on the cobbles will ever be the same again.

Tune in to Coronation Street on ITV this Friday, May 16th, for the highly anticipated flashback episode that promises to shake the street to its core.
