In the second episode of FBI Season 7, titled “Trusted,” the team faces a harrowing case that takes them from a brutal double murder to a dangerous kidnapping, all while personal and professional tensions bubble to the surface.
The episode begins with a chilling crime scene: a couple has been brutally murdered in their own home. The FBI team, led by OA (Zeeko Zaki) and Maggie (Missy Peregrym), quickly discovers that the 911 call came from inside the house, and the anonymous caller claimed the victims were killed by him. This shocking twist leads them to a former trial lawyer, Mike Holland, who has fallen on hard times. Although Mike was the last to see the victims, his story checks out, but they discover another set of fingerprints on the scene—those of Paul Gordon, a prisoner who was thought to be behind bars.
It soon becomes clear that Paul and his roommate, John, have escaped from prison. As the FBI scrambles to track them down, OA and Maggie learn that John’s ex-wife, Angela, had visited him before the escape and is now missing, setting the stage for a dangerous manhunt.
Meanwhile, Scola (John Boyd) and his new partner, Sophie, are navigating their developing dynamic. Sophie’s unexpected knowledge of Scola’s breakfast order surprises him, but there’s no time for pleasantries as the team dives into the case. Tensions run high as the team uncovers the disturbing truth: Paul has taken Angela’s daughter, Naomi, and is holding her for ransom. The plot thickens as the team attempts to track down the ransom money and negotiate with Paul, only to have the situation take another shocking turn.
As the team races to save Naomi, they follow a trail that leads them to Melissa, the prison warden, who turns out to be deeply involved in the scheme. After a tense confrontation, Melissa betrays them, and Paul kills her before fleeing the scene. The team is forced to regroup and track down Naomi once more. They eventually find her on a boat owned by Melissa’s grandfather and rescue her just in time.
The emotional aftermath of the case leaves Naomi coldly rejecting her father, John, who is left to face the consequences of his actions. Meanwhile, Maggie, feeling the weight of her recent actions, shares a moment of introspection with Isobel, as their relationship remains strained.
In the personal subplot, OA and Gemma (Kathleen Munroe) attend dinner with Clay (guest star), an old friend of OA’s. Clay’s request for OA to help him place a bug raises suspicions, leading to a potential conflict of interest for OA as his connection with Clay could complicate things further.
This episode marks a turning point for the team, filled with high stakes, personal sacrifices, and a growing sense of unease surrounding new and old alliances. Fans can expect more twists and high-octane drama as the season progresses.
