Coronation Street has introduced another major change for Bethany Platt amid her shocking return to the cobbles, with the journalist having left the soap earlier this year after accepting a new job at a magazine in London.
However, Bethany’s exciting career move didn’t quite work out, and tonight’s (3 October) episode saw her in Weatherfield’s police station, where she was taken in for questioning over an alleged car theft.

As DC Kit Green was led into the interview room, he was stunned to see his girlfriend Sarah’s daughter in the hot seat. PC Heywood explained that Bethany had already been interviewed, but thought that Kit might want a word.
Bethany denied stealing the car, which belonged to her boss. She explained that she was borrowing it and had planned to return it later, but Kit remained unconvinced by her version of events.
“I genuinely didn’t even think Miss Stokes would notice. She’s got like five cars,” Bethany rationalised. “And all the times she’s had me playing chauffeur after one of her liquid strategy meetings…”
Bethany went on to admit that she had quit her job the week before, after a big mistake involving a confidential source. “It was either that or get fired,” she said, adding: “I might be a total screw-up but I’m not a thief.”
Fortunately, Kit was able to get Bethany’s boss to drop the claims and promptly delivered her to a delighted Sarah. She was concerned to hear Bethany had quit her job, but was pleased when her daughter revealed that she was staying for good.
Later, Bethany bumped into former flame Daniel Osbourne and reluctantly agreed to a “proper catch up” at the Bistro. The pair previously ended things on bad terms, and Bethany was quick to shut down any suggestions of rekindling their romance.
“I don’t care how sad or lonely or heartbroken you are, I wouldn’t go near you again if you were the last man on Earth. In fact, I would rather turn celibate and live in a monastery in the North Pole,” she asserted.
A confused Daniel was quick to agree with Bethany’s viewpoint, telling her “we’re not good for each other”. He assured her that he had no intention of getting back together with her and simply wanted to apologise for his past behaviour.
With Daniel firmly in her rear-view mirror, could a new romance be on the horizon for Bethany?
