This article contains spoilers for tonight’s Coronation Street, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on ITVX.
Theo Silverton’s (James Cartwright) behaviour towards Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) has been gradually getting more concerning, with the scaffolder clearly asserting his control over his partner.
It seems as though Todd is constantly walking on eggshells these days, after a terrifying altercation that saw Theo force-feed him kebab meat.
Theo appears to be triggered by the slightest things Todd does, like going out with friends or not putting things away, and he has even taken to making comments about Todd’s appearance and weight.
Todd seems to anticipate setting Theo off, and has even been surprised to find that certain things – like kicking off in court – hadn’t made him angry.
Things have started to escalate in recent scenes, with Theo warning Todd never to leave him.

Despite this, it may not be any of Todd’s immediate friends or family that are the first to pick up on Theo’s abuse…
In tonight’s episode, the couple followed the now familiar routine of Theo snapping at Todd, Todd making plans to see friends, and Theo convincing him he is sorry and to have a night in together.
Having made up with Theo after he apologised for belittling Todd’s parenting experience, Todd blew off George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) in favour of spending the night with Theo.

When George informed Christina Midgeley (Amy Robbins) that Todd would no longer be joining them as he was staying in with ‘his beloved’, she admitted that she found it difficult to warm to Theo.
She recalled the night they had all gone round for the flat-warming, and mentioned seeing a ‘flash of something in his eyes’.
Viewers will recall that Theo was furious at Todd after their guests had left, as he’d wanted them to spend the night in the flat alone together.
With Christina having already picked up on something about Theo’s behaviour not being quite right, could she be set to expose his abuse?
