In a shocking turn of events, Gabby Thomas’s obsession with her engagement dress size has spiraled into disaster. Determined to fit into the ill-fitting dress she ordered for her upcoming engagement party, Gabby embarks on a dangerous crash diet that puts her health – and those around her – at great risk. Fueled by nothing but black coffee and over-exercising, Gabby neglects her responsibilities as a mother, ignoring the toll it takes on her body.
Rosie Bentham, who plays Gabby, reveals just how far Gabby is willing to go, “She’s eating nothing, drinking gallons of coffee, and pushing herself too far. It’s pure destruction.”
The consequences are horrifying when Gabby’s car, already in need of repair, breaks down, leaving her to try and fix it herself. With fiancé Vinnie at the garage and unaware of Gabby’s ill state, Sarah Sugdan agrees to accompany her on a diagnostic test drive. But tragedy strikes when Gabby, too weak from her crash diet, faints at the wheel. In a desperate attempt to save them both, Sarah, who is still recovering from a recent hysterectomy, throws herself across the car and manages to stop it just in time.
However, the physical toll on Sarah is severe, leaving her with painful post-surgery complications. Both women are rushed to A&E in critical condition, with Gabby’s dangerously low nutritional state and Sarah’s post-operative pain putting their futures in jeopardy. Will they survive? And more importantly, how will their health battles affect their futures in the village?
Meanwhile, another emotional bombshell is dropped as Bearwolf bids farewell to Emmerdale. After an explosive argument with his son Patty, Bear makes the decision to leave the village. The strained father-son relationship reached its breaking point after Bear’s constant criticisms and Patty’s inability to help him. Patty, riddled with guilt, may have pushed his father away for good. Bear claims he’s off to stay with a friend, but the truth is far more complex. Is Bear leaving to spiral into his own personal breakdown? Or is there something more to his exit?
Producer Laura Shaw teases that Bear’s departure is just the beginning of a much larger storyline. “When Bear returns, viewers will be asking, ‘What the hell has happened here?’” It’s clear that Bear’s story isn’t over, and his future in the village is anything but predictable.
But it’s not just Bear’s departure causing turmoil. Robert Sugdan, a character many hoped had found redemption, is returning to his villainous roots. After discovering a stash of illegal weed crops hidden in Moira Dingle’s barn, Robert steals them and sells them to a dangerous dealer, Ry. As the drama unfolds, Robert’s motives become clear – he’s looking for chaos, and he won’t stop until he has it. What will Robert’s betrayal mean for his relationships, and how far will he go to cause mayhem in the village?
As if that wasn’t enough, Patty faces the weight of his guilt as he deals with Bear’s exit, while Lewis’s weed empire crumbles. The drama keeps building as Rey’s rise becomes a central focus, threatening to destabilize everything in the Dales.
Emmerdale is truly entering one of its darkest arcs in years, with dramatic showdowns, secrets spilling, and relationships on the brink of collapse.
