Yellowstone star Kevin Costner has shared a short clip from his brand new series away from the Paramount Plus hit drama, reports the Express.

The Hollywood legend and John Dutton star, 70, posted the video from Kevin Costner’s The West on Instagram.

The video was also shared on the History Channel’s Instagram account with the caption: “There are bloody consequences fighting for the nation’s future. #TheWest.”

In the clip, a historian details a bloody killing by John Brown and his followers of a man and his teenage sons.

In the narration, Costner says: “Brown continues to go house to house looking for Dutch Henry, killing a total of five people in the settlement of Pottawatomie that night.

While a historian explains the brutal scenes: “John Brown, he was sending a political message to other potentially pro-slavery settlers, ‘You come to Kansas, this could happen to you’.”

Kevin Costner’s The West is airing on The History Channel in the USA, while those in the UK will have to wait longer with Sky yet to confirm an air date.

The eight-part series is not only fronted by Costner, but also executive produced by the Oscar winner and Doris Kearns Goodwin.

Kevin Costner’s The West offers a fresh look at the bloody beginnings of the American West and a desperate struggle among settlers and the indigenous people for the land.

Moreover, the show will reveal how these early years of formation still affects and shapes America today.

The series features figures such as Lewis and Clark and Sacagawea, alongside the clashes between lawmakers and outlaws, and the rise of cowboys and ranchers.

Kevin Costner’s The West covers a century and explores “the resilience of trailblazing women, and the fervor of fortune seekers and abolitionists”.

Stories of the brith of American will be told from diverse perspectives. The show’s description states how “the series illuminates both the indelible contributions of the pioneers who shaped the dream of the American West and the courageous resistance of Native American tribes who valiantly defended their ancestral land”.

Costner previously posted about his show back in May when it first premiered in the USA.

He wrote on Instagram: “Really excited to dive deeper into the history of #TheWest with you guys, starting tonight at 9/8c on The @history channel.

“I worked with the brilliant historian @doriskgoodwin on this one, and I think you’ll be amazed at some of the very true stories we tell—stories which, though maybe not widely known, make up the very the fabric of The West.” Costner added: “I love this stuff. I hope you will too.”

Kevin Costner’s The West is the star’s latest project away from the Neo-Western hit series Yellowstone, which earned him a new legion of fans thanks to his portrayal as the ruthless rancher John Dutton.

Since his exit, Costner has also been directing and starring in his Western film series Horizon: An American Saga and is now working on the third chapter.
